I use LinkedIn almost every day for career networking, following industry news, and job hunting, and overall it’s been very useful. It’s the go-to place to connect with colleagues, recruiters, and professionals in your field — and I’ve gotten valuable opportunities just from profile visibility and posts.
The job search tools are solid, with alerts and recommended roles based on your profile. It’s also handy for building your personal brand by sharing content or engaging with discussions in your industry.
That said, LinkedIn’s feed can sometimes feel noisy with overly promotional posts, irrelevant updates, or recruiters spamming every connection. And while the Premium subscription adds features like InMail and deeper insights, it feels pricey if you’re only occasionally job hunting.
Overall, LinkedIn is a powerful professional platform that delivers real value, but it’s not perfect
Great website for professional network, started using it recently and already found some business partners and a couple of job opportunities.

Instead of creating one more centralized alternative, it's best to invest all effort into a decentralized solution, like Radicle[1][2] or federated Forgejo[3][4]. We switched our entire product studio to a self hosted Forgejo https://forgejo.org/ and honestly this has been one of our best decisions: it's fast, has a great API for bots and automations to use, just a Go project so we've been able to make some tweaks to the runner. - Source: Hacker News / 15 days ago
I’m hosting my own https://tangled.org knot and spindle, and also hosting and building my own Frontend browser for https://forgejo.org looking forward to open sourcing it in the future for others to enjoy. For people who want a similar experience today, I’d recommend trying Codeberg (An official instance of Forgejo) though. However, keep in mind they voted in July to ban mostly AI generated repositories. You can... - Source: Hacker News / 15 days ago
You mean Gitea [0], a community-driven fork is Forgejo. There was some drama, have to admit is still don't really understand it (ask an llm I'd say). Codeberg [2] uses Forgejo. [0] https://about.gitea.com/ [1] https://forgejo.org/ [2] https://codeberg.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 15 days ago
