I use LinkedIn almost every day for career networking, following industry news, and job hunting, and overall itโs been very useful. Itโs the go-to place to connect with colleagues, recruiters, and professionals in your field โ and Iโve gotten valuable opportunities just from profile visibility and posts.
The job search tools are solid, with alerts and recommended roles based on your profile. Itโs also handy for building your personal brand by sharing content or engaging with discussions in your industry.
That said, LinkedInโs feed can sometimes feel noisy with overly promotional posts, irrelevant updates, or recruiters spamming every connection. And while the Premium subscription adds features like InMail and deeper insights, it feels pricey if youโre only occasionally job hunting.
Overall, LinkedIn is a powerful professional platform that delivers real value, but itโs not perfect
Great website for professional network, started using it recently and already found some business partners and a couple of job opportunities.
We have collected here some useful links to help you find out if LinkedIn is good.
Check the traffic stats of LinkedIn on SimilarWeb. The key metrics to look for are: monthly visits, average visit duration, pages per visit, and traffic by country. Moreoever, check the traffic sources. For example "Direct" traffic is a good sign.
Check the "Domain Rating" of LinkedIn on Ahrefs. The domain rating is a measure of the strength of a website's backlink profile on a scale from 0 to 100. It shows the strength of LinkedIn's backlink profile compared to the other websites. In most cases a domain rating of 60+ is considered good and 70+ is considered very good.
Check the "Domain Authority" of LinkedIn on MOZ. A website's domain authority (DA) is a search engine ranking score that predicts how well a website will rank on search engine result pages (SERPs). It is based on a 100-point logarithmic scale, with higher scores corresponding to a greater likelihood of ranking. This is another useful metric to check if a website is good.

How do you find these startups and fully-fledged companies? You can look out for companies on Linkedin that have less than 20 or 50 employees by using the keyword 'YC' in the search bar and clicking on the Companies tab. LinkedIn holds a prominent position in the realm of professional networking and job boards, distinguished by its multifaceted features and wide-ranging influence. This platform is frequently highlighted in discussions about professional growth, recruitment, and networking within the tech industry, providing an invaluable service to a diverse user base.
LinkedIn's most significant advantage lies in its robust networking capabilities, which allow job seekers to establish direct connections with employers, often leading to opportunities that aren't typically advertised elsewhere. The platform enables professionals to nurture relationships that can lead to both immediate and long-term career advancements. LinkedIn excels in facilitating direct communication, important in an age where personal interaction in professional settings is growing increasingly digital.
Another key area where LinkedIn outshines competitors such as Facebook is in allowing users to focus on professional content. It provides a unique social networking experience centered around industry news, thought leadership, and the sharing of professional achievements. This emphasis on profession-centric interaction makes it a superior alternative for those who seek an environment free of casual, personal content.
Furthermore, LinkedIn is considered the go-to platform for B2B marketing and lead generation, offering business targeting options perfectly tailored for these purposes. It has an extensive database of professionals and companies, making it an essential tool for Account Based Marketing (ABM) strategies. For those involved in content creation, LinkedIn's support for video content is a recent enhancement that has been embraced by many, as video campaigns have demonstrated increased engagement rates.
While LinkedIn excels as a networking and content-sharing platform, it does have areas where user satisfaction is mixed. One such area is its job search capabilities, especially when it comes to finding startup jobs. Critics highlight that LinkedIn lacks nuanced filtering options that are crucial for those specifically targeting the dynamic startup ecosystem. Instead, its more generalized job search tools can result in user frustration, as they contend with a high volume of applicants often processed through company Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
Privacy is another aspect where user opinion varies. Although LinkedIn does not share personal data directly with third parties, giving users control over how their data is utilized can be improved. The platform does share some user concerns typical for any large social network; for instance, the presence of dark patterns in user experience can deter newcomers.
Overall, LinkedIn stands as a formidable player in the professional networking and job recruitment sphere. Its emphasis on direct communication between candidates and employers, professional content sharing, and effective B2B marketing make it an essential tool for those seeking opportunities for professional development. However, for niche job markets like startups, users might seek more specialized platforms to maximize effectiveness. As LinkedIn continues to adapt to the evolving digital landscape, addressing these challenges could further cement its place as the primary platform for professional networking and advancement. ```
