Why this product is good

  • Focuses on personal accountability through structured commitment tracking, which can be motivating for self-improvement

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing LeadHunter USA and Selfcommit.dev.

What makes your product unique?

LeadHunter USA's answer

Most lead tools either sell you a lead or watch public forums like Reddit and Hacker News. LeadHunter USA watches the two places homeowners actually ask for a contractor: the local Facebook groups they already belong to, and the Nextdoor feed for their neighborhood.

When a neighbor posts "anyone know a good plumber?", the contractor's phone buzzes within minutes with the post and a link straight to it. An AI filter reads every post first, so what arrives is a job request and not a recommendation thread or general chatter.

It runs read-only. A desktop app on the contractor's own machine reads their own logged-in session — it never posts, comments, messages or joins groups on their behalf.

And the lead itself is not the product. There is no per-lead charge, no bidding, and we never resell a lead to another contractor.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

LeadHunter USA's answer

Against keyword-alert tools like F5Bot, Syften, KWatch.io and Google Alerts: those were built for founders and marketing teams watching Reddit, Hacker News and X for brand mentions. They do not cover the local Facebook groups or the Nextdoor feed where homeowners ask for a plumber, an electrician or a roofer, and they send email digests rather than a phone alert while the job is still warm.

Against lead marketplaces like Angi, Thumbtack and HomeAdvisor: they charge $30 to $100 for a single lead and sell that same lead to several contractors, who then race each other down on price. LeadHunter USA is $75 a month flat — unlimited leads, no per-lead charge, no bidding, and the lead is never resold.

It was built by a working plumber for the trades, not adapted from a marketing tool.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

LeadHunter USA's answer

Independent contractors and small crews in the local service trades across the United States: plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, roofers, painters, handymen, landscapers, carpenters, masons, cleaners, pest control, pool service, garage door, appliance repair, mobile mechanics, chimney sweeps, tree service, window installers, general contractors and EV charger installers. Twenty-five trades in all, with more than 190 job types underneath them.

The typical user is a one-to-ten-person business that already belongs to several local Facebook groups and reads Nextdoor, but cannot sit and watch them all day. Most have paid for leads from Angi, Thumbtack or HomeAdvisor and want the same jobs without the per-lead bill.

What's the story behind your product?

LeadHunter USA's answer

LeadHunter USA was built by a plumber. He spent thousands of dollars on lead-generation services that promised good leads and mostly delivered junk — wrong trade, wrong area, or the same lead sold to four other plumbers who all undercut each other.

The jobs that actually turned into work came from somewhere else: a neighbor posting "anyone know a good plumber?" in a local Facebook group or on Nextdoor. The problem was seeing them in time. By the time he scrolled past one in the evening, someone else had already taken the job.

So he built the thing he wanted — something that watches those groups around the clock and pings his phone within minutes of a match — and priced it well below what the lead-gen companies charge, because he remembered what it felt like to overpay for promises. It shipped in April 2026.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

LeadHunter USA's answer

The desktop scanner is an Electron application for Windows and macOS. The mobile apps for iOS and Android are built with React Native and Expo. The web dashboard and marketing site run on Next.js, deployed on Vercel. Data, authentication and scheduled jobs run on Supabase (PostgreSQL). Lead filtering uses Anthropic's Claude models to judge whether a post is a real job request before it becomes an alert. Payments run through Stripe and transactional email through Resend.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

LeadHunter USA's answer

  • Plumbers
  • Electricians
  • HVAC and AC technicians
  • Handymen
