Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Hatchkeep and Cozy.

What makes your product unique?

Hatchkeep's answer

Hatchkeep is all-in-one property management for independent landlords and small PMs. The difference: everyone gets a real app โ€” owners see cash flow, tenants pay rent and file maintenance from their phone, vendors get dispatched and paid via Stripe, and maintenance techs get their jobs on mobile. Built-in AI ("Hatch") knows your role and answers questions in real time. Rent collection is honest โ€” 1.3% ACH capped at $8, free for your first 50 properties. And if you're coming from Buildium or AppFolio, our importer has your portfolio live in 20 minutes.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Hatchkeep's answer

Choose Hatchkeep if you're an independent landlord or small PM who wants one honest, native app that your whole team โ€” including vendors and techs โ€” actually uses, at pricing that doesn't punish growth. Choose an incumbent if you're enterprise-scale and need trust accounting and live syndication more than you need simplicity, fair pricing, and a real experience for everyone.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Hatchkeep's answer

Hatchkeep is built in equal measure for two customers: the tech-comfortable independent landlord (1โ€“50 units) who has outgrown spreadsheets, and the growing property-management company โ€” from a solo operator to a multi-owner firm โ€” underserved by Buildium and AppFolio.

  • Alternatives to nextcloud? Is this abandonware?
As far as alternatives go there is cozy cloud, which tbh I never tried, but it seems a lot more limited. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Is Drive the best GDrive alternative available?
I use Cozy Drive. It's open source. You can pick a folder in your pc, and it syncs it to the cloud. You can still open in offline. They have 5gb free version, which I use, because I need it only for documents and photos. Android app is good too, and you can automatically sync your photos. Source: almost 5 years ago
  • I need a Password Manager and don't know what to get.
However, it really depends on one needs and usage. For example, tags might be a more flexible way to organize the passwords than folders, I agree with that. Searching in Bitwarden is reasonably good, which makes folders or tags a lot less relevant. The limited number of item types is not limited for my use, as I rarely use Bitwarden for anything else than managing passwords. Autofill never bothered me, personally.... Source: almost 5 years ago
  • Whatโ€™s a good way of sharing resources at home (local net)
If you want more of a web-based file sharing solution, you can try out more professionally made open source file sharing services like Syncthing, YouTransfer, or Cozy. The advantage of web-based solutions is that you can use them with your smartphone as well, which is very convenient. Source: over 5 years ago
