Brainloot

A task board for game makers, with a Unity Bridge that keeps your board and editor in sync.

Most teams park work in Trello, Notion, Jira, Codecks, or similar โ€” then lose time hopping back into Unity and trying to remember which object, prop, or bug the card was about. Brainloot is built around that gap.

Web & mobile board

A clear board for tasks, ideas, and active work โ€” usable on its own if you just want a lighter game-dev-friendly tracker.

Unity Bridge & Scene pins

In Unity, Scene pins place work on the GameObjects themselves. You can:

  • Link a card to an object
  • Locate it in the Scene
  • Update status and complete tasks without living in another tab

The board can stay separate if you want. The editor side is for linking, quick updates, and keeping context where the work actually happens.

Best for

  • Small Unity teams and indie studios
  • Level design and scene-heavy work
  • Bugs/fixes tied to specific objects
  • Capturing โ€œahaโ€ ideas on your phone before they disappear
  • Anyone tired of bouncing between a board and the editor

Stay in flow

Brainloot includes a light Hand / Focus-style flow so you can work a short active queue instead of drowning in a giant backlog. Sync is live between the board and Unity, so the team stays aligned in-editor or on the web.

Who itโ€™s for (and isnโ€™t)

Early product, already used by real customers. Built for teams who want a practical stay-in-editor workflow โ€” not another heavy PM suite.

If your board-outside-Unity process already works perfectly, you may not need it. If you keep losing Scene context every time you leave the editor, Brainloot is for that problem.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing HacknPlan and Brainloot.

What makes your product unique?

Brainloot's answer:

Brainloot combines a game-dev task board with Unity Scene pins, My Hand, and Focus Mode โ€” so work stays linked to GameObjects in the editor, not only on a separate board like Trello, Codecks, or HacknPlan.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Brainloot's answer:

Choose Brainloot if you lose โ€œwhich object was this about?โ€ when hopping between a board and Unity. Competitors are strong boards; Brainlootโ€™s edge is stay-in-editor context (pins, locate, live sync) plus a small active Hand instead of backlog overload.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Brainloot's answer:

Small Unity teams, indie studios, and solo/level-focused developers who bounce between the Scene and tools like Trello, Notion, Codecks, or Jira and want less context switching.

What's the story behind your product?

Brainloot's answer:

Brainloot started from the everyday friction of making games: tasks living in one tool while the real work lives in Unity. It grew into a card-style board plus a Unity Bridge so ideas, bugs, and level work can stay pinned to the objects you are actually editing โ€” including quick โ€œahaโ€ moments captured on phone.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Brainloot's answer:

Next.js, React, TypeScript, Firebase (Auth, Firestore, App Hosting / Cloud Functions), Stripe for billing, and a Unity Editor plugin in C# for the Bridge, Scene pins, and in-editor Hand/Focus workflow.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Brainloot's answer:

Brainloot is early-stage with a small set of customers and design partners; no large public logo customers to list yet.

A while back I was working with a small team and we tried out HacknPlan, and we were pretty impressed by it. I liked the integration with a design document, made it feel like it really was geared towards game devs. Our artist took to it quickly and everyone was able to fill out their own timelines with labels so we could get a nice overview of the scope of the project.
