FakeClients.com is an easy-to-use, free tool for beginning logo designers to practice their logo design skills. Using the logo design brief generator you can generate prompts that you can work on as if they were real clients. Use these prompts to practice, fill up your portfolio or prepare for a job interview. To generate your first prompt, simply click the "Start" button. A randomly generated design brief will be generated for you. Because of the huge amount of potential combinations, no brief is the same. Click the button as much as you want until you get a design brief you would like to work on. Try to work on the fake client briefs just like you would when working on a real client's request and go through your whole design process to get as much practice and the best result.

Iโm not going to dive into Git commands here โ you can find plenty of tutorials online. If youโre not a fan of using the plain terminal CLI, you can also manage repositories with tools like GitHub Desktop or SourceTree, which provide a more visual, intuitive interface. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
Using terminal commands isnโt necessary for basic adoption of Git with Corticon Studio files, though. There are various tools that will allow us to bypass the command line when defining rules, including the built-in Eclipse plugin for Git version control. If youโll be storing your assets on GitHub, though, an even easier solution is GitHub Desktop, a free desktop software that GitHub offers. It can be used in... - Source: dev.to / almost 2 years ago
Nix currently is akin to git's "porcelain": powerful but esoteric. However, much like git evolved into exoteric, user-friendly tools such as git-flow, GitHub Desktop, and Tower to become user-friendly, many developers are building abstractions, wrappers, and utilities to simplify Nix usage. Let's briefly look at a few of these tools now. - Source: dev.to / almost 2 years ago
So, assuming youโre going to apply to design programs, be proactive and start designing stuff on your own. You can find design briefs at goodbrief.io, fakeclients.com, and sharpen.design. Source: about 3 years ago
Are design contests worth entering? If your hope is that a company will see your contest entry and decide to hire you, probably not. Contests may be helpful, though more for developing a designer's skills and giving them a winning or placing entry that they can use to promote as opposed to gaining organic notoriety from the contest itself. It is true, though, that being able to promote oneself as an... Source: about 4 years ago

Work/Portfolio โ Basicsโข do not overload your portfolio with too much of one type of client, application/use (brochure, signage, packaging, etc.), or style โ showing a hiring manager your ability to adapt to the needs of different types of clients and projects is a key in getting hiredโข avoid rebranding existing companies, especially large, household name entitiesโข thumbnails tend to work best when they are filled...
