The thing that I personally like about Evernote is that before I have used word as my note taking application, than on my smartphone I have had used Google Keep and so my notes were just unorganized mess. But with Evernote now I can have my notes at one place and unified. Also the fact that I can log to another device and my notes are "just there" is really nice. And also I like graphics user interface of Evernote.

Obsidian is a multi-platform note-taking and writing app. Simple enough. But aren't there plenty of those around? Yes absolutely, but they each have downsides that I wasn't able to settle with long-term. With Google Cloud it was the difficult of linking between notes (this has improved since but it's still not quite what I want). I'm using https://picocms.org/. It is PHP based, works on a cheap limited web hoster. The concept is: Upload a markdown file plus associated media, and it does the rest for you. For customisation, you can use Twig and CSS, or a predefined theme (I didn't look into these, I wanted a custom appearance). Ever since version 2.0, Les Pas has been able to share albums with other Nextcloud users, you can even co-edit the same album with others if you publish the album as 'Joint Album'.
