What makes your product unique?

Most Mac dictation apps stop once your words are on the screen. Edict is built for the loop after that:

  • Local MCP server so your coding agent can search your transcript history or hand over a file to transcribe
  • Auto-send so a finished prompt submits itself to agents you allowlist
  • Wrong-window guard that keeps text on your clipboard if focus moved while you talked
  • Verbatim output, because a rewrite is a bug when the text is a prompt

Alongside that it does on-device file transcription with speaker labels, exporting SRT, VTT or TXT.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

If you talk to coding agents more than you type, Edict is shaped for that specifically. Text lands verbatim in Claude Code, Cursor or a terminal, including over SSH, and your agent can read your transcript history over MCP.

It's a one-time $29 purchase with no account and no subscription, and the speech models are bundled inside the app rather than downloaded, so it works offline from first launch.

It won't suit everyone. There's no free tier, it's Apple Silicon only, and if you want your dictation tidied up and rewritten as you go, other apps do that deliberately and Edict doesn't.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Developers who drive AI coding agents. People with Claude Code or Cursor open all day who would rather say a paragraph of context than type it, since speaking a full prompt takes roughly the time typing gets you a sentence.

Secondarily, anyone transcribing audio or video on a Mac who can't send it to a cloud service. File transcription runs on-device with speaker labels.

What's the story behind your product?

I built it because I talk to coding agents all day and typing the prompts was the slow part.

Two things existing tools didn't quite give me. First, the audio genuinely never leaves the Mac: the speech models sit inside the app bundle and run on the Neural Engine, with no cloud mode and no API key field. Second, it never rewrites you, because when the text is a prompt to an agent, what you actually said is what matters.

The rest came from using it every day. The wrong-window guard exists because I kept pasting into Slack. Auto-send exists because reaching for Return broke the flow. The MCP server exists because I wanted the agent to read back what I'd dictated.
