Diffract's answer:
Diffract is a purpose-built desktop diff tool that handles far more than plain text. A single app compares text, binary (hex view), images, PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, ZIP/tar archives, and Git commits - all in a multi-tab interface. On top of the standard Myers diff, it offers Patience and Histogram algorithms per comparison, AST-based semantic diff that understands code structure (not just line changes), and automatic moved-block detection. It also runs fully headless as a CLI tool for use in CI pipelines.
Diffract's answer:
Diffract is purpose-built, so it supports file types (PDF, Word, Excel, archives), workflows (three-way merge, Git browsing, semantic diff), and UX features (drag-and-drop, OS context menus, in-panel editing with undo/redo, minimap, search) that e.g. an IDE's diff panel simply doesn't cover.
Diffract's answer:
Software developers and DevOps/SRE engineers who compare code, config files, and build artifacts daily. A secondary audience includes QA and release engineers who need to diff generated outputs and directory trees, and technical writers or analysts who compare Word documents, PDFs, or Excel exports without wanting a cloud-based or subscription tool.
Diffract's answer:
Flutter and Dart (cross-platform desktop UI, targeting Windows, macOS, and Linux).

Using my favorite diff tool, DiffMerge, and docker inspect to compare an existing kind node's state to a new container's, I experimented with various docker run flags until I got something that's close enough to the kind node. - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago
DiffMerge is a multi-platform tool for visually comparing and merging files. Its graphical merge screenshot highlights the differences between files, and allows automatic merging and full edit control over the resulting file. The folder comparison shows which files are missing in one of the folders as well as which files among matched pairs is different. Kindly suggested by whyiseverynameinuse. Source: almost 4 years ago
> You can also get Meld from MacPorts, Fink or Brew; none of these methods are supported. Can anyone recommend any of these unsupported options? The best diff GUI tool I've been able to find for OSX is DiffMerge (https://sourcegear.com/diffmerge/) on the App Store, and I'd like to have a tree view for folder comparisons. - Source: Hacker News / over 4 years ago
