Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Descript and VoxScriber.

What makes your product unique?

VoxScriber's answer:

VoxScriber stands out through its multi-engine transcription approach, allowing users to choose between AssemblyAI (cost-effective), OpenAI Whisper (excellent for noisy audio), and ElevenLabs (premium speaker separation). The platform combines this with robust features like automatic diarization, AI-powered analysis (summarization, sentiment, entity detection), and regional localization across Brazil, Portugal, US, and France with local payment methods (PIX, Stripe).

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

VoxScriber's answer:

VoxScriber offers flexibility competitors lack: switch between AI engines mid-project based on your content type. The credit-based billing (not time-based) is more transparent and fair. Multiple export formats (TXT, DOCX, PDF, SRT, VTT, JSON) eliminate the need for post-processing tools. The platform's global reach with localized payment (Stripe, MercadoPago, PIX) and 4-language support removes friction for international teams. Most importantly, the built-in chat-with-transcription feature and automatic analysis turn raw transcripts into insights—saving hours of manual review.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

VoxScriber's answer:

VoxScriber serves three tiers: Individuals (podcasters, students, researchers needing quick, affordable transcription), Professionals (journalists, lawyers, consultants handling confidential content and demanding accuracy), and Enterprises (media companies, call centers, research teams requiring team collaboration, usage tracking, and compliance). The platform's multi-language support and flexible payment methods appeal globally, particularly to emerging markets where cost-efficiency matters.

What's the story behind your product?

VoxScriber's answer:

VoxScriber was built by developers frustrated with transcription fragmentation—one tool for accuracy, another for speaker identification, a third for export formats. The platform emerged from the conviction that transcription shouldn't require juggling multiple services. By offering multiple AI engines, the team ensured users aren't locked into a single provider's strengths or weaknesses. The emphasis on LGPD/GDPR compliance and privacy-first design reflects a commitment to serving global markets responsibly, particularly in regions with strict data protection laws.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

VoxScriber's answer:

Transcription Engines: AssemblyAI, OpenAI Whisper, ElevenLabs APIs Backend: Node.js with PostgreSQL (structured data, user/billing management) Media Processing: FFmpeg (format conversion), MediaPipe (optional, for advanced audio analysis) Security: AES-256-GCM encryption, TOTP-based MFA Infrastructure: Cloud storage with signed, time-limited URLs; queue-based retry system (exponential backoff) Frontend: Modern JavaScript framework with rich text editor and real-time collaboration support Payments: Stripe API Internationalization: Multi-language UI with regional domain routing

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

VoxScriber's answer:

OAB do Piauí — The Brazilian Bar Association of Piauí state, representing thousands of lawyers who rely on VoxScriber to transcribe depositions, client interviews, court hearings, and legal consultations. The platform's high accuracy and speaker identification help attorneys document cases and maintain compliance records.

OAB do Acre — The Brazilian Bar Association of Acre state, another major legal institution using VoxScriber for similar legal transcription needs. With dedicated support for Portuguese and LGPD compliance, the platform serves the state's extensive legal community for case documentation and evidence preservation.

Bank of Brazil — One of Brazil's largest private banks, utilizing VoxScriber for enterprise-scale transcription across call centers, customer service interactions, and internal training. The platform's team collaboration features, usage analytics, and secure credit-based billing align with BB compliance requirements and operational scale.

Very useful for editing scripts/interview videos.

Coming from a video editing background, Descript might take some getting used to. But once you figure it out, it speeds up your editing (especially interviews/long-form voiceover). The captions are very nice to work with, but a bit limited in terms of styles. There are a lot more caption styles, transitions, and effects in CapCut, but Descript excels in simplicity and speed.

The saved layouts (you can make your own) are very good if you want to create a bunch of videos on different topics with the same design scheme or branding.
