AppCrib features and specs

  • Purpose-Built
Every tool is an expert in one small problem, and the inputs are the expertise: it already knows which questions matter, so you point at your situation instead of describing it. Purpose-built beats general-purpose when the answer has to be right for you.
  • Tunable
The answer is the interface. Tune the inputs โ€” sliders, toggles, units โ€” and the result recomputes in front of you. Change the wall length and the stud count updates; drag the barbell target and the plate loadout re-renders. No starting over, no re-asking.
  • Producible Outputs
Each tool hands you something you can actually take with you: a shopping list for the store, a cut list, formatted SQL, a downloadable file, a copyable summary. Outputs you can hand to someone โ€” not a wall of text.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Cursor and AppCrib.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

AppCrib's answer:

A quick answer gives you one shot at phrasing the question, then a wall of text โ€” if it's close-but-wrong, you start over. AppCrib makes the answer the interface: change the wall length and the stud count recomputes; drag the barbell target and the plate loadout re-renders. Purpose-built beats general-purpose when the answer has to be right for you. Everything is free, no sign-up, and runs client-side in your browser.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

AppCrib's answer:

People who need an exact, tunable answer they can act on โ€” developers formatting and diffing data, DIYers planning a build who need a shopping list, lifters working out plate loadouts and training numbers, and anyone whose question deserves more than a rough estimate. If the honest answer is "here's a rough number, but you should really tune this," AppCrib is for you.

What's the story behind your product?

AppCrib's answer:

Quick answers got cheap, but an answer you can't adjust isn't done. We kept noticing the gap between a rough estimate and something you can actually act on โ€” so we started building small, focused browser tools that each master one problem: they ask the right questions, recompute live as you adjust, and end with an output you can take to the store, the gym, or your codebase. New tools ship every week, because there's an endless supply of questions worth answering properly.

What makes your product unique?

AppCrib's answer:

Every AppCrib tool is purpose-built for one small problem, and the inputs are the expertise: the tool already knows which questions matter, so you point at your situation instead of describing it. Every answer comes with knobs โ€” tune a slider, flip a toggle, and the result recomputes in front of you. And each tool hands you a producible output: a shopping list, a cut list, formatted SQL, a downloadable file โ€” outputs, not transcripts.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

AppCrib's answer:

React and Next.js, statically generated and served from Cloudflare's edge. All computation runs client-side in the browser โ€” files you compress and data you paste are processed locally and never uploaded to a server.

Cursor vs Windsurf vs GitHub Copilot
The gap between Cursor and Windsurf is narrow and closing fast. While Cursor wins for now based on slightly better overall results and stability, Windsurf's rapid development and polished experience make it a compelling alternative that could easily take the lead with a few refinements. If you want to really push the boundaries of what AI can do for your coding, Cursor is...

Cursor vs GitHub Copilot
Cursor's tab completion is pretty wild. It'll suggest multiple lines of code, and it's looking at your whole project to make those suggestions. For TypeScript and Python files - when Tab suggests an unimported symbol, Cursor will auto-import it to your current file. Plus, it even tries to guess where you're going to edit next.

The step up from there is an editor with a built-in agent like Cursor, Google Antigravity, Windsurf, or VS Code with a coding extension. These are code editors with an AI agent living inside them, and the difference is the responsible party for getting things from place to place. • I almost credited llms.txt for a Google AI Mode win. Then I read what Google actually says.
Where llms.txt genuinely gets read is a different layer: coding and agent tooling โ€” Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf โ€” pulling a documentation site's pages with less token waste, plus emerging agent protocols like OpenAI's Agents SDK. That's real, and it's growing fast. - Source: dev.to / about 2 months ago
