Cue is an iPhone teleprompter and video recorder built around one idea other apps miss: filming in takes. You split your script into parts, record them one at a time while the prompter waits between takes, then combine the parts into a single video at full quality. Any take can be trimmed or re-recorded.

It also does the essentials well: stabilized 4K, adjustable speed, text size, mirror mode, countdown, framing grid, a volume-button remote, script categories, and on-device AI to polish, shorten, or write hooks. Interface in 10 languages.

No account, no sign-in, no tracking; everything runs on the device. Free with 3 scripts and 1080p. Cue Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: film in takes, 4K, unlimited scripts, and the AI tools.

Cue.me features and specs

  • Film in takes, combine into one video
plit a script into parts and record them one at a time while the prompter waits, then Cue joins them into one full-quality video. Re-record or trim any single take instead of starting over.
  • Script over the camera
Your script floats on the live camera feed, so you read while looking at the lens and keep eye contact. Adjustable speed, text size, mirror mode, countdown, framing grid, and a volume-button remote to record hands-free.
  • Stabilized 4K with on-device AI
Records stabilized 4K, and Apple Intelligence polishes, shortens, or writes hooks for your script offline, with nothing leaving the phone.
  • Private, and a one-time price
No account, no sign-in, no tracking, no data collected. Cue Pro is a single $4.99 purchase, never a subscription.

Node.js features and specs

  • Asynchronous and Event-Driven
Node.js uses an asynchronous, non-blocking, and event-driven I/O model, making it efficient and scalable for handling multiple simultaneous connections.
  • JavaScript Everywhere
Developers can use JavaScript for both client-side and server-side programming, providing a unified language environment and better synergy between front-end and back-end development.
  • Large Community and NPM
Node.js has a vibrant community and a rich ecosystem with the Node Package Manager (NPM), which offers thousands of open-source libraries and tools that can be integrated easily into projects.
  • High Performance
Built on the V8 JavaScript engine from Google, Node.js translates JavaScript directly into native machine code, which increases performance and speed.
  • Scalability
Designed with microservices and scalability in mind, Node.js enables easy horizontal scaling across multiple servers.
  • JSON Support
Node.js seamlessly handles JSON, which is a common format for API responses, making it an excellent choice for building RESTful APIs and data-intensive real-time applications.

Possible disadvantages of Node.js

  • Callback Hell
The reliance on callbacks to manage asynchronous operations can lead to deeply nested and difficult-to-read code, commonly referred to as 'Callback Hell'.
  • Not Suitable for CPU-Intensive Tasks
Node.js is optimized for I/O operations and can become inefficient for CPU-intensive tasks, slowing down overall performance due to its single-threaded event loop.
  • Immaturity of Tools
Compared to more established technologies, some Node.js libraries and tools still lack maturity and comprehensive documentation, which can be challenging for developers.
  • Callback and Promise Overheads
Managing asynchronous operations using callbacks or promises can lead to additional complexity and overhead, impacting maintainability and performance if not handled correctly.
  • Fragmented Ecosystem
The fast-paced evolution of Node.js and its ecosystem can lead to fragmentation, with numerous versions and libraries that may not always be compatible with each other.
  • Security Issues
The extensive use of third-party libraries via NPM can introduce security vulnerabilities if not properly managed and updated, making applications more susceptible to attacks.

Analysis of Node.js

Overall verdict

  • Node.js is a popular and effective choice for building a wide range of applications, from small utilities to large-scale enterprise solutions. Its performance, speed, and community support make it a strong option, especially for real-time applications.

Why this product is good

  • Node.js is considered good because it's built on Google Chrome's V8 JavaScript Engine, making it fast and efficient for handling I/O operations. Its event-driven, non-blocking I/O model makes it suitable for building scalable network applications. Additionally, it has a large ecosystem of packages available through npm, allowing developers to find solutions for almost any problem they might encounter.

Recommended for

  • Web applications with a lot of I/O operations
  • Real-time services such as chat applications
  • APIs for mobile and single-page applications
  • Prototyping and agile development
  • Microservices architecture

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Cue.me and Node.js.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Cue.me's answer

Native iOS, built in Swift and SwiftUI. AVFoundation for camera capture, stabilized 4K recording and video composition. Apple's FoundationModels framework for on-device AI script tools. NaturalLanguage for text processing, StoreKit 2 for the one-time purchase, Photos for saving to the camera roll, MediaPlayer for volume-button remote control. No server, no backend, no third-party SDKs.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Cue.me's answer

Independent content creators filming themselves on an iPhone: GRWM, beauty and lifestyle creators who record in multiple parts, plus coaches, educators, real estate and small business owners who record talking-head videos and product explanations. Anyone who has to speak to camera from a script without a second person operating the shoot.

What makes your product unique?

Cue.me's answer

Filming in takes. Every other teleprompter assumes you record a script in one continuous pass. Cue lets you split a script into sections, record each one separately while the prompter waits between takes, then combine them into a single full-quality video inside the app. You can trim or re-record any individual take without starting over. It also runs entirely on the device, with no account and no data collection.

What's the story behind your product?

Cue.me's answer

Cue started from a simple frustration: reading a script on a phone means looking away from the lens, and re-recording a long script from the beginning every time you fumble one line. The first version solved eye contact by floating the script over the camera feed. The take-based workflow came next, after watching how creators actually film, which is rarely in one pass. It is built and maintained by a single independent developer in Dubai.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Cue.me's answer

Three reasons. First, take-based recording is built in, so you do not need a separate editor to stitch clips together. Second, the price is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, which is unusual in this category. Third, nothing leaves the phone: the script tools use on-device Apple Intelligence, there is no sign-up, no cloud upload, and no tracking.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Cue.me's answer

  • Individual content creators (the app is sold direct to consumers, with no enterprise accounts)

  • What's an event loop anyways?
Event loops are a paradigm for processing events different than your typical single-threaded or multi-threaded application. Your request gets broken down into async "events" that are executed in a loop to improve performance and minimize synchronization across threads. It is famously used by Node.js as the backbone of their event processing and also by several other technologies like Redis and Nginx. - Source: dev.to / 18 days ago
