CryptPad is a private-by-design alternative to popular office tools and cloud services. All the content stored on CryptPad is encrypted before being sent, which means nobody can access your data unless you give them the keys.
CryptPad provides a full-fledged office suite with all the tools necessary for productive collaboration. Applications include: Rich Text, Spreadsheets, Code/Markdown, Kanban, Slides, Whiteboard and Forms.
All data on CryptPad is encrypted in the browser. This means no readable data leaves the user's device. Even the service administrators cannot see the content of documents or user data.
CryptPad is built to enable collaboration with features such as team drives, calendar, and sharing. It synchronizes changes to documents in real time. Because all data is encrypted, the service and its administrators have no way of seeing the content being edited and stored.
Cryptee is a safety and privacy focused, encrypted and cross-platform personal data storage service. You can write personal documents, notes, journals, store photos and all sorts of other files.
It works on all your devices and provides a zero-knowledge place to keep all your sensitive digital belongings. cryptee has all the features you'd expect from a modern document editor, like live sync with unlimited devices, rich document editing, to-dos, markdown, hotkeys, code highlighting, latex math, embeds, attachments, support for tables, ability to attach pdf files, read EPUB ebooks, listen to audio-memos, as well as open and link other various file formats.
Cryptee is based in Europe, in Tallinn, Estonia. A country named "the most advanced digital society in the world" by Wired, and a country where the government runs on blockchain.
CryptPad
CrypteeIndividuals or organizations that require secure storage and privacy for their documents and photos, particularly those concerned about data tracking, surveillance, or needing a privacy-first cloud service alternative.
CryptPad might be a bit more popular than Cryptee. We know about 93 links to it since March 2021 and only 79 links to Cryptee. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
It's always a good thing to have multiple players and I hope we can have actual EU-based alternatives, but I feel like this is less interesting as a project than _La Suite numรฉrique_ [1] developed by the French government or _CryptPad_ [2] developed by XWiki, a French company based in Paris. This wouldn't address building an actual E2EE service. This is a hard issue. CryptPad [1] does this but it has strong limitations inherent to a fully E2EE system. (disclaimer: I work for the company which develop CryptPad, but I don't myself work on it) [1] https://cryptpad.org. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
For e2ee you might want to have a look at CryptPad (https://cryptpad.org). You can test it on the free instance https://cryptpad.fr You'll have plenty of doc types with full end to end encryption, including for your drive. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
I'm looking for the same. Open source, self hosted, and end-to-end encrypted. I haven't found anything that really does all of this, but it seems like Cryptpad[0] and Peergos[1] are viable platforms upon which something like this could be built. Except for encryption, Atomic Data[2] seems like a really cool platform to build this on. [0] https://cryptpad.org/ [1] https://peergos.org/ [2] - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
I see that they claim all of their apps and libraries are open source[0]. But they only link to the OpenPGP libraries they're using. Is this actually open source? Following the "Open Source" footer link[1], here they only link to the ProtonMail Github account with nothing mentioning ProtonDrive. And if it is actually open source, I'd love to see a comparison to CryptPad[2] > which is why weโve made all our apps... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
> The only major hurdle to this is Apple continuing to treat web apps as second class citizens on iOS If you add a site to iOS' homescreen it automatically becomes a PWA. The best example I found of a site fully leveraging this feature is Cryptee[0]. They talk about the PWA thing here: https://crypt.ee/download [0] https://crypt.ee/. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Well, then - if self hosting is not your thing - something like crypt.ee might be your thing? Clearly a different pricing model, data is fully encrypted, open source, across platforms. Source: over 2 years ago
Https://crypt.ee now. I used to mostly use local markdown editors like Ulysses and Zettlr. Source: about 3 years ago
Crypt.ee Ticks 1/2/3/5 of your requirements However free tier only has 100MB storage which might be enough for a journal, it also has the best rich text editor of them all, would highly recommend. Source: about 3 years ago
I've only used it for editing docs but have found crypt.ee very easy to use. Source: about 3 years ago
