It works on all your devices and provides a zero-knowledge place to keep all your sensitive digital belongings. cryptee has all the features you'd expect from a modern document editor, like live sync with unlimited devices, rich document editing, to-dos, markdown, hotkeys, code highlighting, latex math, embeds, attachments, support for tables, ability to attach pdf files, read EPUB ebooks, listen to audio-memos, as well as open and link other various file formats.
Cryptee is based in Europe, in Tallinn, Estonia. A country named "the most advanced digital society in the world" by Wired, and a country where the government runs on blockchain.
> The only major hurdle to this is Apple continuing to treat web apps as second class citizens on iOS If you add a site to iOS' homescreen it automatically becomes a PWA. The best example I found of a site fully leveraging this feature is Cryptee[0]. They talk about the PWA thing here: https://crypt.ee/download [0] https://crypt.ee/. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
Well, then - if self hosting is not your thing - something like crypt.ee might be your thing? Clearly a different pricing model, data is fully encrypted, open source, across platforms. Source: 5 months ago
Https://crypt.ee now. I used to mostly use local markdown editors like Ulysses and Zettlr. Source: 10 months ago
Crypt.ee Ticks 1/2/3/5 of your requirements However free tier only has 100MB storage which might be enough for a journal, it also has the best rich text editor of them all, would highly recommend. Source: 11 months ago
I've only used it for editing docs but have found crypt.ee very easy to use. Source: about 1 year ago
Cryptee (https://crypt.ee) currently lacks spreadsheet but has a fantastic encrypted word processor/doc suite as well as Photos/Videos. Source: about 1 year ago
Cryptee (https://crypt.ee) has native support for epub books and is client-side encrypted so very private. Source: about 1 year ago
Highly recommend Cryptee (https://crypt.ee) It’s amazing! Source: about 1 year ago
Use ProtonMail/Tutanota instead of Gmail. Use Brave Search (get familiar with their new "Goggles Beta" feature; it's actually very cool and very useful) and Startpage search (gives you Google's search results, but privately). Use Cryptee or Cryptpad for your Google Docs alternative. Get a Google Pixel 6a and flash CalyxOS on it. Use Brave or Firefox/Librewolf. Source: about 1 year ago
Its been a while since I used FocusWriter but there's Cryptee. Source: about 1 year ago
Agreed that self-hosting is the most private way but if that is not an option for you, try Cryptee (https://crypt.ee) It’s an encrypted wird processor (think GPhotos or MSWord) and Photos (beautiful minimal UI) and recently added support for videos as well. Source: about 1 year ago
Try to check crypt.ee and cryptpad.fr. Source: about 1 year ago
If you really value a polished web based solution you might consider crypt.ee (It works as a PWA) I've heard ppl say they like it (It's looks like a hybrid cloud storage/document editor), but I don't have personal experience with it. There's a free tier with 100 MB storage, so you can test it if it looks interesting. Source: about 1 year ago
Under third-party. You can CTRL+F in a desktop browser to search "crypt.ee" and it should pop up. Source: over 1 year ago
Sad to not see Cryptee (https://crypt.ee) on this list. Source: over 1 year ago
If you're a serious photographer, consider https://crypt.ee/. It is sort of like Google Photos, but everything is private and encrypted. Source: over 1 year ago
I'd recommend https://crypt.ee/ You can use on all platforms, you can upload photos and videos. You can leverage ghost folders that will not appear unless you call them up, and the app is password protected. Its great. Source: over 1 year ago
I was coming back to Cryptee (https://crypt.ee/) after a while and noticed they added login with Google. This poses a bunch of problems that I found:. Source: over 1 year ago
If I open photo in crypt.ee it opens build in photo viewer and if I click on that photo with right mouse, I can "open in new tab" and save to my disk and there are difference between Chrome and Firefox. Source: over 1 year ago
In practice, you're right, but as far as I know neither Google nor Apple currently provide that specific functionality. Have you looked at other options? Crypt.ee offers the functionality you're looking for, and I think Sync.com does, as well. Source: over 1 year ago
Problem with crypt.ee is, if I make "ghost" folder and hide my files into that, is still possible find out, there are "ghost" folder with files. How? Remaining space! So you still can be forced reveal your "ghost" folder name. Source: over 1 year ago
