CoffeeScriptCoffeeScript may be recommended for developers maintaining legacy CoffeeScript projects, or for those who prefer its syntax over JavaScript and are working on small projects. It might also be useful for educational purposes to understand how language features influence each other.
Netty might be a bit more popular than CoffeeScript. We know about 32 links to it since March 2021 and only 28 links to CoffeeScript. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
Not literally. And I would hardly say it was a matter of language superiority. I love Ruby myself. But Github was a lot simpler when it was still just a Rails app. But Rails was SSR by default, and most of the frontend was just Embedded Ruby (ERB) template files all over the place. And way back when, it was even relatively common to use Javascript supersets like CoffeeScript[1] and Opal[2]. The latter being Ruby... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 month ago
Surely coffeescript would have been more appropriate? [0]: https://coffeescript.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
My personal take is this would be like JavaScript adopting an optional Coffeescript[1] syntax. It's so different that it seems odd to make it an option vs a new language, etc. [1] https://coffeescript.org/#introduction. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
JS isn't perfect, but it's good enough. And there is ongoing effort to make it even better. Also, many other languages compile to JS (without WASM). Notably: - https://www.typescriptlang.org/ - https://coffeescript.org/ - https://clojurescript.org/ - https://www.transcrypt.org/ I wrote https://multi-launch.leftium.com, which is only 6% JS. The majority is Svelte (65%) + TypeScript (27%). ( - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
As a front-end web developer, do you still use CoffeeScript or jQuery? Unlikely, as TypeScript, ES/TC39 and Babel (and the retirement of Internet Explorer thanks to @codepo8 and his EDGE team) have helped to transform JavaScript into some kind of a modern programming language. - Source: dev.to / over 3 years ago
Netty has been around since 2004. If you've used Elasticsearch, Cassandra, gRPC-Java, Pulsar, Spark, the AWS SDK v2 async client, or Spring WebFlux (via Reactor Netty), you've used Netty. Every TCP connection into Floci, every UDP datagram, every connection to a spawned RDS container terminates in a Netty channel pipeline somewhere. - Source: dev.to / about 2 months ago
Bpdbi started as a port of Vert.x SQL Client, stripped of all its async/reactive machinery. Where Vert.x SQL uses Netty to connect with the database, Bpdbi uses a good old java.net.Socket. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
We use Netty (https://netty.io/) as the source of the MQTT communication, and we build the MQTT features the MQTT broker should support ourselves on top of that. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
In this space, we also have the somewhat related term blocking. Java's NIO library is one well-known non-blocking tool used for managing multiple tasks on a single Java thread. When listening to sockets, most of the time a thread is just blocked, doing nothing until it receives some data. So, it's efficient to use a single thread for monitoring many sockets, to increase the likelihood of the thread having some... - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago
Given the fact that Lettuce is built with Netty, we also immediately noticed quite an impact on the initialization time (cold start) of our lambda function. Netty is really fast while executing, but takes a bit of time to initialize. The new Lambda Snapstart functionality might help with that. - Source: dev.to / over 3 years ago
