I'm a new coder too. What helps me is finding a good place to learn the most basic principles and having 2-5 things I want to do. I started with codedex.io , learning Python and HTML and then took their courses and moved on looking for projects with tutorials. Little steps one by one. I'm going through the textbook "Beginning Perl" located at perl.org, and I'm having a confuse with one of the example questions. I'm supposed to determine the order of operations for 26 + 3 ^ 4 * 2. According to the precedence table in the textbook, + and * come before ^. So I think the answer should be ((26 + 3) ^ (4 * 2)), but the book says the answer is 26 + (3 ^ (4 * 2)).
