Backbone gives engineers the architectural foundation of an enterprise system immediately: zero-trust security, horizontal scalability, observability, and operational discipline. Backbone removes a huge chunk of the engineering work all early-stage teams will end up reinventing themselves.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing CloudStack and BackboneHQ.

What makes your product unique?

BackboneHQ's answer:

As far as I am aware, there is no other tool out there that provides such massive engineering lift to a SaaS system on Day 1.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

BackboneHQ's answer:

The real competitor is DIY. It will take significant spend over the first few years to reach this level of system maturity - security, governance, compliance, audit and auth capabilities.

Compared to the annual cost of a single DevOps or Software Engineer, choosing Backbone if you plan to launch on AWS is a no-brainer.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

BackboneHQ's answer:

Seeded/funded startups and greenfield engineering teams or Founders/CTOs.

What's the story behind your product?

BackboneHQ's answer:

Industry pattern recognition. Every serious SaaS platform has to build pipelines, release processes, auth, audit, security, IaC and so on anyway. I have done it many times over my career, everywhere a little bit different (tech stack, design or tools) but essentially the same.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

BackboneHQ's answer:

Java, Quarkus, Maven, CDK (Typescript), GitHub, AWS, Taskfile, Bash
