Capture2text DescriptCapture2Text is recommended for students, professionals, and anyone who frequently works with images containing text, such as researchers or writers. It is also useful for individuals seeking a free and user-friendly OCR tool with multilingual support.
Coming from a video editing background, Descript might take some getting used to. But once you figure it out, it speeds up your editing (especially interviews/long-form voiceover). The captions are very nice to work with, but a bit limited in terms of styles. There are a lot more caption styles, transitions, and effects in CapCut, but Descript excels in simplicity and speed.
The saved layouts (you can make your own) are very good if you want to create a bunch of videos on different topics with the same design scheme or branding.
Based on our record, Descript should be more popular than Capture2text. It has been mentiond 12 times since March 2021. Capture2Text is FOSS. It uses Tesseract as it's OCR engine, which is great as you can use different language data files to find the one that is the most accurate for your purposes. Source: almost 5 years ago
Capture2Text is the simplest solution and it works surprisingly well with the Cold Steel/Hajimari text boxes... Once it runs in the background press a previously assigned hotkey and select the area on the screen to be captured. I recommend deactivating its popup window, you just want the text to be copied into the clipboard. Source: about 5 years ago
You should have a look at Capture2Text and ShareX. They offer OCR translation (ShareX links to google translator in your browser, when you do OCR Translation, I think). Source: over 5 years ago
For transcripts, I use Descript. Descript is able to identify all four of our panel members, and I usually spend an hour or so cleaning it up and setting the transcript into a video for YouTube. Source: over 3 years ago

I tried to use descript.com but found out that they didn't have a download for Linux and that their online version doesn't allow you to edit your transcript. Source: almost 4 years ago
