Because it's built by someone who actually camps off-grid. The appliance library comes from real gear lists (not marketing specs), the output shows watt-hours per device (not just a total), and you can tweak individual items to see how adding a 12V fridge or swapping LED bulbs changes your battery needs. I built it after spending weeks reading Reddit threads (r/vandwellers, r/overlanding) and forum posts where people kept asking the same question: "How big a battery do I really need?" Every answer was either a spreadsheet link or a vague "it depends." CampPowerCalc turns that spreadsheet into an interactive tool that walks through your actual appliance list and shows the math.

Vanilla JavaScript with a static frontend hosted on Cloudflare Pages. No backend, no database, no user accounts โ all calculation happens locally in the browser.
