  • Two-Way Steering

  • Agent-Native Orchestration
Campfire provides the communication primitive; capable agents can create their own polling, monitoring, retry, and scheduling logic using their existing tools.
  • Existing Agent & Tools
Works as an access layer for the agent environment and integrations you already use rather than replacing them with a separate chatbot.
  • Out-of-Band Connectivity
SMS provides a fallback channel when mobile data is unavailable, unreliable, or inconvenient.
  • Secure Device Binding
Access is tied to verified phone numbers and revocable per-install credentials rather than exposing arbitrary remote machine control.
  • Sparse Notifications
Let the agent work in the background and contact you only for meaningful progress, completion, or decisions that need human input.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Campfire and SQL Shot.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Campfire's answer

Campfire is currently in early beta and does not yet have publicly announced customers.

What makes your product unique?

Campfire's answer

Campfire gives existing AI coding agents a persistent two-way SMS channel. Instead of building another chatbot or remote-control app, it lets the agent and tools you already use reach you over ordinary text messaging — including when mobile data is unavailable. Agents can send progress, request input, receive new instructions, and remain reachable throughout long-running workflows.

The philosophy is simple: better agents should give you less screen time, not more.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Campfire's answer

Campfire does not replace your existing agent, model subscription, tools, or development environment. It extends them.

Rather than requiring another app, dashboard, or remote administrative interface, Campfire provides a narrow SMS communication layer. That means you can walk away from your computer while retaining the ability to monitor, question, or steer a running agent — even with poor or nonexistent mobile-data coverage.

As agent capabilities improve, Campfire benefits without needing to reproduce their intelligence or integrations.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Campfire's answer

Developers and technical users who already rely on coding agents such as Codex for substantial or long-running work and want to spend less time supervising them.

Campfire is especially useful for workflows involving builds, training, inference, research, monitoring, batch processing, or other tasks where the agent may work or wait for hours but occasionally require human input.

What's the story behind your product?

Campfire's answer

Campfire came from a simple frustration: increasingly capable agents can work for long periods, but using them often means spending more time watching another screen.

The goal was to reverse that relationship. Give the agent work, leave the computer, and let it contact you only when something matters.

SMS became the natural interface because it is ubiquitous, low-friction, and can remain available when mobile data is unreliable. Campfire grew from that idea into a lightweight bridge between powerful existing agents and ordinary text messaging.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Campfire's answer

Model Context Protocol (MCP) Codex CLI Google Cloud Platform Cloudflare SMS / cellular messaging REST APIs Secure per-install credentials and phone-number binding
