Possible disadvantages of Brutalist Websites

  • User Experience Challenges
The stark, unconventional design of Brutalist websites can present usability challenges, making navigation less intuitive for users accustomed to more traditional interfaces.
  • Limited Audience Appeal
The raw, unrefined aesthetic may not appeal to a broad audience, potentially alienating users who prefer more polished and visually appealing designs.
  • Accessibility Issues
A lack of consideration for accessibility features, such as screen readers or adaptable text sizes, can make these sites difficult to use for individuals with disabilities.
  • Potential for Over-Simplicity
The minimalist approach, while effective in certain contexts, can sometimes result in an overly simplistic site that lacks depth and fails to engage users or convey a compelling narrative.

  • Does anyone kind of miss simpler webpages?
A couple of years back there was this movement called "Brutalist web design" you might be interested in. I can't say I like the style too much but I think there are technical merits to Brutalist web design, accessibility being one of them. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Can I get your opinions on this design?
I also don't really see the brutalism in this, it needs to be raw, louder, have more "attitude" and personality. Don't really know how to explain it, found a website that collect brutalist websites, it should give a better idea of what I'm after. A lot comes down to typography since brutalist design is very bare and raw. A more interesting font (or fonts) and more aggressive font sizes will help a lot for instance. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Hi I want to go for a look of raw Html for a design ?
I think the perfect style for you is brutalism. Check it out https://brutalistwebsites.com/. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Can Anyone Identify this table set? $100 for all 4
Is it defined by concrete buildings? I think brutalism has a bit more going on than just concrete buildings when you look into it. You can even find brutalist web design floating around. Source: over 3 years ago
  • On my site i've got modal window which takes screen height (100vh) - header height(67px) so that it perfectly fills the screen. Browsers have this bottom bar that hides part of the screen. When user scrolls it should hide but if body is overflow hidden then it doesnt scroll and so bar doesnt go away
Itโ€™s got the brutalist aesthetic going on. Source: over 3 years ago
