With regard to encryption tools, I use AxCrypt, which is cross-platform, but isn't free in that form. It would though encrypt each file in-place, without need for a dedicated folder or vault and encrypted file will sync with OneDrive, via the standard sync client. Two days ago I enabled SFTP access on port 22 for a friend on a remote location to whom I needed to transfer some files but who likes to use pyLoad, so DSMโs simple file share via web link wasnโt an option. Set up port forwarding in the router, everything worked as expected.
