AegisRunner is an autonomous web testing platform that generates regression tests and quality audits from a single URL.

How it works:

Enter your website URL The crawler autonomously discovers pages, forms, buttons, navigation, and dynamic states AI generates Playwright test files (.spec.ts) for each page Every page is audited for accessibility (WCAG/axe-core), SEO, security headers, and performance (Web Vitals) Download test files and reports โ€” ready for CI/CD Key Features:

Autonomous crawling โ€” handles SPAs, JavaScript rendering, dynamic content AI-powered Playwright test generation โ€” standard .spec.ts files, not proprietary formats Accessibility audits (WCAG violations via axe-core) SEO analysis (meta tags, headings, canonicals) Security header checks (CSP, HSTS, X-Frame-Options) Performance metrics (Core Web Vitals per page) Dead link detection Form detection and analysis Downloadable reports and test suites CI/CD integration support What makes AegisRunner different: Unlike record-and-replay tools (Katalon, Testim) or code-based frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright), AegisRunner requires zero setup. No recording sessions, no writing test scripts, no maintaining brittle selectors. Just a URL.

  • interface_complexity
The user interface, while powerful, can be overwhelming and complex for beginners or those not deeply familiar with version control concepts.
  • performance_issues
Occasionally, GitHub may experience downtime or performance issues, which can disrupt workflow and prevent access to repositories temporarily.
  • limited_storage
GitHub imposes limitations on storage space and file size within repositories, which can be restrictive for projects requiring large datasets or binaries.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing AegisRunner and GitHub.

What makes your product unique?

AegisRunner's answer

AegisRunner is the only tool that generates a complete Playwright test suite from just a URL โ€” no recording, no scripting, no setup.

Every other testing tool requires you to either:

Record user actions (Katalon, Testim, Ghost Inspector) โ€” fragile, breaks every sprint Write code (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) โ€” takes weeks to build coverage Describe tests in English (Testsigma) โ€” still manual effort per test AegisRunner does none of that. You give it a URL, it autonomously crawls your entire site, discovers every page, form, and interaction, and AI writes the tests for you. The output is standard Playwright .spec.ts files you can run in any CI pipeline โ€” not a proprietary format that locks you in.

On top of test generation, every page gets audited for accessibility, SEO, security, and performance in the same crawl. One URL โ†’ tests + audits + reports. Zero effort.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

AegisRunner's answer

Zero effort to get started. Every competitor requires you to do something first โ€” record sessions, write scripts, describe tests in English, or set up infrastructure. AegisRunner requires a URL. That's it.

You get test files, not a dashboard. Most tools lock your tests inside their platform. AegisRunner gives you standard Playwright .spec.ts files you own, commit to your repo, and run anywhere. No vendor lock-in.

Testing + auditing in one crawl. Competitors make you buy separate tools for accessibility, SEO, security, and performance. AegisRunner does all of it in a single scan alongside test generation.

No maintenance burden. Record-and-replay tests break when the UI changes. Hand-written tests need constant updates. AegisRunner generates fresh tests on every crawl โ€” your test suite stays current automatically.

Built for teams without QA. If you're a startup or small team without dedicated testers, AegisRunner gives you the coverage a QA team would build โ€” without hiring one.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

AegisRunner's answer

Developers, startup founders, and small engineering teams who need test coverage but don't have the time or QA resources to build and maintain it manually. Specifically:

Solo developers and indie hackers shipping fast without a QA team Startup engineering teams (2-15 devs) who prioritize features over testing Frontend developers who know they should test but don't have bandwidth to write Playwright scripts Freelancers and agencies managing multiple client sites who need quick quality checks before handoff Non-technical founders who want to verify their web app works without understanding test frameworks The common thread: they all care about quality but can't justify spending weeks setting up test infrastructure.

What's the story behind your product?

AegisRunner's answer

AegisRunner was born out of frustration with the testing status quo.

As a developer, I kept running into the same problem โ€” every project needed test coverage, but building it was painful. Record-and-replay tools produced brittle tests that broke every sprint. Writing Playwright or Cypress scripts from scratch took weeks before you had meaningful coverage. And maintaining those tests was a full-time job nobody wanted.

I kept thinking: the browser already knows what's on the page. It can see every form, every button, every link. Why am I manually telling it what to test?

So I started building a crawler that could explore a website on its own โ€” like a user would โ€” and then use AI to write the tests based on what it found. No recording. No scripting. Just give it a URL and let it figure out what needs testing.

Along the way, I realized the crawler was already visiting every page โ€” so why not audit them too? Accessibility violations, SEO issues, missing security headers, slow performance โ€” all things you'd normally need separate tools for. AegisRunner does it all in one pass.

The name comes from the Aegis โ€” the mythical shield. The idea is simple: AegisRunner shields your web application by automatically finding what's broken and generating the tests to keep it from breaking again.

Today it's a one-person mission to make quality assurance accessible to every developer, not just teams with dedicated QA engineers and enterprise budgets.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

AegisRunner's answer

Nuxt 4, Nodejs + Playwright, PostgreSQL , Redis and OpenAI API
