AcrossProtocol features and specs

  • Fast Bridging Speed
Across Protocol is known for its extremely fast cross-chain bridging times, often completing transfers in minutes or even seconds thanks to its optimistic verification system and relayer network, making it one of the fastest bridges available.
  • Low Fees
Across typically offers some of the lowest bridging fees in the market compared to other cross-chain bridges. Its efficient relayer model and optimistic oracle design help minimize costs for users transferring assets between chains.
  • Strong Security Model
Across leverages UMA's optimistic oracle for verification, providing a robust security framework. Rather than relying on multisig validators or centralized intermediaries, it uses an economic guarantee model that has proven resilient against exploits, unlike many other bridges that have suffered hacks.
  • Growing Multi-Chain Support
Across supports a growing number of popular chains including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Base, zkSync, and Linea, among others, making it versatile for users operating across the major Layer 2 and EVM-compatible ecosystems.
  • Intents-Based Architecture
Across pioneered an intents-based bridging architecture where relayers front capital to users on destination chains, then get reimbursed later. This innovative design has influenced the broader bridging space and enables a superior user experience with near-instant finality for the end user.

Possible disadvantages of AcrossProtocol

  • Limited to EVM Chains
Across Protocol primarily supports EVM-compatible chains and does not natively support non-EVM ecosystems like Solana, Cosmos, or Bitcoin. Users needing to bridge to these networks must look for alternative solutions.
  • Limited Token Support
Compared to some competing bridges, Across supports a relatively limited set of tokens for bridging. Not all tokens on supported chains can be bridged, which may force users to swap tokens before or after bridging.
  • Relayer Dependency
The protocol relies on a network of relayers to front capital and facilitate fast transfers. If relayer liquidity is low for a particular route or token, transfers may be slower or more expensive, creating potential bottlenecks during high-demand periods.
  • Complexity for Liquidity Providers
Becoming a relayer or liquidity provider on Across involves a relatively complex setup and requires significant capital. This higher barrier to entry can limit the decentralization and depth of the relayer network compared to more accessible protocols.
  • Smaller Ecosystem and Brand Recognition
Despite its technical merits, Across has lower brand recognition and a smaller user community compared to larger bridges like Stargate or Wormhole. This can mean less liquidity on certain routes and fewer integrations with dApps and wallets.

    Faster carrier payouts, stronger capacity

We run a mid-size logistics company, and our biggest headache was paying independent freight carriers scattered across a dozen countries. Every payout meant currency conversion fees, multi day delays, and carriers threatening to drop us for slower paying brokers. Since switching a chunk of our payouts to 0xProcessing, carriers get paid within the hour instead of within the week, and the automatic conversion means our finance team locks in costs without babysitting exchange rates. It's made us the broker carriers actually want to work with, which in an industry where capacity is everything, has quietly become one of our biggest competitive advantages.

    ๐Ÿ Competitors: BitPay, CoinPayments, CoinGate
๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Automatic conversion locks in costs without manual exchange rate monitoring
๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    Requires carriers willing to accept crypto payouts

Easy to fit into our existing process

We were looking for a way to accept crypto payments with no changes to the rest of our workflow. After reviewing payment gateways, 0xProcessing was deemed more feasible than others. The setup was simple and once it ran, never required day-to-day attention. The ability to create payment requests is hassle-free and clear for daily transaction uses; hence, there is no confusion.

    ๐Ÿ Competitors: CoinGate, RIZON
๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Quick to get started|Supports multiple cryptocurrencies|Simple payment request|Clear transaction status
๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    More detailed reporting would be useful|Dashboard customization is limited

The goal is to move BitPay in order to utilize it globally.

Following numerous payment drops and unexpected compliance holds with BitPay, we switched our primary checkout flow to 0xProcessing. Our global clients rely on cross-border technology, services, and products. We needed a payment gateway that is used to handling payment processing and wonโ€™t raise flags about something this usual. Actually the onboarding as merchant was quite easy. The API integration into Vettrackโ€™s custom billing stack has taken the dev team the best part of about two afternoons and the docs donโ€™t leave much to the imagination.

To run its day-to-day operations, Stable is used. We rely heavily on this payment links feature, which is completely automated. The VRCS feature converts incoming volatile assets to stablecoins automatically. The latter aspect alone has given adequate protection to our margins during the dips which get tied up in the afternoon. The 18 supported networks includes nearly everything our clients use. The processing time in so minimal, and we have still yet to have our first chargeback or false fraud flag since we started using it. The interface is effective but has glitches.

๐Ÿ Competitors: BitPay, CoinGate, RIZON, Coinbase
๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Vrcs effectively mitigates market volatility risk|Supports a wide range of native tokens and|Transparent fee structure with no hidden billing surprises
๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    Ui dashboard feels overly basic for complex financial analysis|No native fiat payout options available
