DuckDuckGo is really good when it comes to privacy, but just as bad as google with showing information. Even though it doesn't tell you most of the top results on DuckDuckGo are ads, they paid to be the top results. It also tends to filter out non politically correct information. I haven't been able to find any real alternative to this except maybe Swisscows and Mojeek. These search engines provide fully independent search engines and have no type of ads. You could also consider Yippy which query's multiple search engines and shows results from all of them.
