I just went through this process a little over a week ago. I checked a few places and ended up purchasing from Porkbun which I had seen recommended during my search. I was able to get a .com domain for cheaper than I was expecting with an auto-renew price that didn't go up. I use Google Domains for another site and have had no issues there, but I am trying to be less reliant on Google so I didn't want to purchase from them.

Migadu

For the email management, I ended up going with Migadu after using the free trial for a little while. It isn't free, but they have a tier that is only $19 per year. I wanted to this to make a bunch of family email accounts including a shared account that had individual logons. If you only need one email address, you can probably find a registrar that includes one.
