One thing you will need to do for yourself is buy the domain name. There are lots of good places. I’ve been a fan of Porkbun and Namesilo. I don’t think there’s a huge difference for which registrar you use, but I like these because they offer WHOIS privacy and email forwarding at no extra charge on top of their already low prices. - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
One domain I have had for over 20 years was originally purchased with GoDaddy. I then transferred to Google Domains when that opened up for supposedly better integration with Google Workspace. Now Google Domains is closing up and transferring to Squarespace but I just received an email that they do not support Dynamic DNS (DDNS) so now I'm looking to transfer my domain again. I was thinking about going back to... - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
Check porkbun.com, namesilo.com, then namecheap.com. They offer most but not all TLDs but each offers a few the other doesn't. There are some that none of them offer so you can try GoDaddy but they're pricey. Those three are among your best bets for long term low pricing. Source: 5 months ago
218,691 registered domains. [1] $3M/month. M as in million, not mille [2]? Mille is still commonly used in accounting [3] $36M/year is $164.61 per registered domain per year. Porkbun [4] offer .ai $72.40/year. Even 3 letter domains don't seem to have premium pricing. Something in this unsourced tweet, literally, doesn't add up. BEST*: https://porkbun.com/ Personal opinion, this company was also new to me but a favorite to many others. This is also the second cheapest option at only a few cents more expensive than spaceship. They are known for having good support. Https://tld-list.com/registrars/porkbun/tlds. Source: 10 months ago
Just so you know, I also just switched all my accounts away when I heard. I was going to go to Cloudflare, but they have 0 support for their registrar business, and I have read a few horror stories about issues with it. Seems like most other stuff they do is ok, but not domains. I ended up going with porkbun.com I was leery because of the name, but they have a good reputation and are on the lower side of pricing.... I got my first domain from Wix as I created a few things with it, but got exhausted with UI being sluggish and so on. After that, I fell for https://porkbun.com/ adorable designs after that moved my previous domains to Porkbun and never had any problems with them. Like others have said Cloudflare is awesome. Switched my domain to PorkBun and my cost actually is less now, under $10. Still annoying though, I was a customer for nearly 10 years. Google makes no sense lately. At least this new one seems to be recommended by techies on twitter and it didn’t immediately upsell me to get other shit. Took like 30 minutes to move my site and get my custom DNS records ported over. Source: 11 months ago
I've been super happy with porkbun for domains so far. Their account security and Whois privacy are perfectly fine, and the domains I've bought from them were cheap enough that I went with 10 year leases right off the bat. Source: 11 months ago
Hello, I recently came upon a github repository, (https://github.com/zurlyy/zurly.lol) and went on to his website (zurly.lol). It is a very neat and organized biolink. I bought a domain on porkbun.com, (quinn.lol) and downloaded the source code to hopefully just change some text, music, and gifs/pictures. Figured it would be easy and there would surely be tutorials on this, but I cant seem to find any. Can anyone... Source: 11 months ago
90% of my domains right now are via porkbun.com plus I use Cloudflare as my DNS control and lock the domains. Source: 11 months ago
I recommend Porkbun, but there are other good registrars such as Only Domains, Google Domains and iwantmyname. Source: 11 months ago
Porkbun, cannot recommend them highly enough. Primarily a domain name registrar but their hosting offerings are cheap af and simple to get going whenever I’ve used them. Their prices are fair, they haven’t pulled any of the scummy crap i’ve had others do in the past. Source: 11 months ago
Purchase your domain (I recommend Porkbun since they have the cheapest domain rates). Source: about 1 year ago
If you want to pay extra for privacy sure, go with godaddy. But better domain registers that do no charge for privacy and are closer to wholesale prices are, https://porkbun.com and https://namesilo.com. Source: about 1 year ago
Personally, I use porkbun.com and a run the recommended list of providers for clients to use. Source: about 1 year ago
I'd also recommend you keep your domains separate to your webhosting. https://porkbun.com/ is a premium and recommended registrar, and will likely save you 50%+ on renewals of your domains than at GoDaddy. Source: about 1 year ago
You shouldn't trust google for anything (shoutout /r/degoogle). For domains I really like porkbun. Source: about 1 year ago
Porkbun.com is a cheap and reliable registrar. Source: about 1 year ago
Porkbun sells at very good prices. Depending on the TLD though, some are more expensive than others. Source: about 1 year ago
I'm surprised no-one has mentioned porkbun.com I've been using them for years for personal and corporate DNS for various employers. They have the best pricing and are completely transparent about it. Their interface is simple, they support yubikeys which is a requirement for me, and they take cards, paypal, apple pay and crypto. It's the most open-source feeling registrar I've ever used. I'm not using PorkBut personally; however, I've seen so many authoritative people recommend it (e.g. Derek Sivers). So, I'm nominating it on their behalf.
