As princeendo said, Toward Data Science is also an excellent resource, but many of their articles are hosted on Medium, so you'll only be able to read 4 or 5 a month (I forget the limit). It's well worth the price of a subscription.

I highly recommend you pursue the data scientist path on dataquest.io. I pay for a subscription but you can start it for free. Best place I’ve found to learn what I need. No boring videos—just great hands-on coding exercises.

Omdena

Once you've managed to learn a bit, check out sites like Omdena. You volunteer to help with projects with 49 other people. You get to say how many hours a week you can work on the project, so you don't get overwhelmed. You don't get paid, but you gain valuable experience since there are all levels of data scientists working on a project.
