  • Seeking career advice and guidance. I'm making a career switch from construction to being a data engineer
Have you consider dataquest.io ? I m thinking on subscribing there, the learning path since well balanced between theorical and practical knowledge, plus there are some pet projects initiaves. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Job offers with differing opportunities towards Data Science
I did a lot of planning, reporting and optimizations based on data when I was in digital media, so I've been applying to data focused roles. In my free time, I've also been learning Data Science via dataquest.io, hoping to take my analysis to the next level, learn new skill sets, and keep coding. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Carpentry career to data science?
I recommend dataquest.io. It's an intuitive way to learn the fundamentals if you'd rather not study in a more formal manner. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Advice on online postgraduate data studies
Does it need to be a postgrad degree? If you want more hands on you might be better using Dataquest. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Best courses for aspring Data Analysts on Udemy? (No computer science background). Any recommendations?
I am using Dataquest to learn Python for Data Science there. I also got a book from O'Riley called Data Science Handbook and the Automating the Boring Stuff with Python book. SQL is good to know and comes in handy. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • 11 Best Data Analyst Online Courses in 2022
Surprised to see Dataquest not included here: https://dataquest.io/. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Seeking Advice On A Coding Bootcamp
Waste of time IMO. I'm a former data science senior manager (switching back to non-manager track). Download some example csv's and teach yourself Tableau Public -- fairly easy to learn and lots of helpful youtube video's. You can publish them to start a project portfolio. Try setting up a mysql database using the popular northwind database and try connecting to it via a GUI like SQLWorkbench to practice your SQL... Source: about 2 years ago
  • Stuck in a dead end blue collar job but have always dreamed of working in IT but have no idea where to start.
I was an electrician for about 10 years. Got sick of the work and environment and knew I needed to get out. I did part of the freecodecamp.org course, and learned the basics of javascript, HTML, and CSS. I then dabbled in Python at dataquest.io and datacamp.com but realised I wasn't interested in data science. However, I learned Python had more versatility than analytics. After 8 months of playing with Python I... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Some advice from a self-taught developer (no CS degree or bootcamp)
There's a good resource that maybe might be what you're looking for. Go on dataquest.io and have a look at their courses and plans. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Data Scientist wannabe needs your input. Thanks!
I highly recommend you pursue the data scientist path on dataquest.io. I pay for a subscription but you can start it for free. Best place I’ve found to learn what I need. No boring videos—just great hands-on coding exercises. Source: over 2 years ago
  • I'm new to python and have been struggling quite a bit, is that a bad sign?
I'm still a relatively new coder, but every day I feel like I learn something new. I've enjoyed Python for Everyone, Automate the boring stuff, Learn python the hard way, and the data science track from dataquest.io. Good luck with your journey. We'll all make it if we keep at it. • Free websites for exercises and real world applications of programming and coding
I'm using something called dataquest.io currently. It's very good imo. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Data science for Ecommerce?
Hello, I am actually fully interested in dataquest.io course. I am in half and I will make finish until end of the year. But I dont really know how to use my knowledge in practice. I have done all test right so far, but really cannot understand the data science job flow. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Career change advice/thoughts
I started a computer science degree a few years ago (almost finished), and initially considered I'd use it to get a data science role (but now prefer software development). I did a few months worth of courses on dataquest.io and think it would be a perfect way for you to get data analytics skills while only paying about $30 USD a month. You end up doing a tonne of stuff for your portfolio and I ended up adding... Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Weekly Entering & Transitioning Thread | 23 May 2021 - 30 May 2021

  • Stressing Out Learning Outside of Work
Thanks for your response. I don't think that it is the having enough time that's the issue. I think often times I fall into analysis paralysis and just don't know what to learn. That's when I start to spiral and quit. I think for now I am going to stick to a planned learning course like what dataquest.io provides. It reduces the burden of having to plan my learning for myself. In that setting I think I can commit... Source: about 3 years ago
  • Dataquest Discount and Referral
Hey everyone. I am starting out on Dataquest.io and would be so happy if people can use my referral to help me get lifetime but also for yourself to get $15 off. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Is coursera a good place to start?
Depending upon how good your Python skills are, I really recommend dataquest.io. It teaches Python from scratch and does a deep dive on Numpy & Pandas. It then covers a Data Science pathway that covers the scikit-learn library in-depth and more high level coverage of other areas (inc. Spark). The whole pathway is 250 hrs and last I checked was about $30-50 pcm (cheaper annual package). Source: about 3 years ago
