  • Streaming reliability on ADC-V521IR indoor camera
I have a ADC-V521IR indoor camera and it's behaving sort of weird. The camera is going to both my alarm.com (brinks) account and a local SVR. The local SVR recordings are fine and don't have any quality/lag issues. But the live streaming capability will only stream for about 2 seconds or drop to extremely low quality. I have 5 other cameras on the network and none of them are doing this. Source: 9 months ago
  • Homebridge and Professional Monitoring
I have an extensive homebridge setup with ring equipment mostly. I'm looking for the best way to get away from ring and onto something else like alarm.com, something self-hosted. Source: 9 months ago
  • Is it possible to delink IQ Panel/Skybell/MyQ from "alarm.com"?
I recently purchased a DR Horton home (resell, not new construction). I performed factory resets on all of the smart home equipment, IQ panel, skybell, garage door opener. When I begin new setup, all are still linked to the previous owners "alarm.com" account and I get nowhere- similar to a locked iPhone. Source: 10 months ago
  • ADT Owners - Can you switch panels to one that works with Home Assistant?
My company recently signed a 36 month contract with ADT unbeknownst to me and are now past the 3 day cool-off period to cancel it. We inherited the panels and wireless sensors for the business we acquired and I really wanted to integrate it with Home Assistant to perform some local operations, such as disarming the alarm when a specific lock code was entered into the door. Lo and behold, it doesn't appear there is... Source: 11 months ago
  • DMP Quote and Security Cameras
My other option that I was thinking of was purchasing either a DSC Neolink or Qolsys IQ4 with PowerG sensors and using https://alarm.com or https://alarmgrid.com for monitoring. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Looking for Landscaping and Security Services
Might be willing to consider an alarm.com setup. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Looking to replace Vivint
I know a dealer that would sell you the equipment and do ADC programming/onboarding for you, but he's not going to do the installation for you in Las Vegas. If you're interested in a self-installation, I can get you their contact info. If you want someone to do the installation, you can go on alarm.com and put in your location for a directory of nearby companies (it wont' be all companies; not everyone is able to... • Looking to replace Vivint
Vivint is a closed, proprietary system (if it's a newer panel). you'd have to replace everything. Like the other commenter said, there are plenty of systems that go cellular only or cellular/wifi/ethernet. alarm.com is a great option, but keep in mind they aren't a manufacturer, they're a software company. You still have to choose an alarm company to purchase equipment through and put you on the alarm.com... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Looking to replace Vivint
The only real things I would need would be a doorbell cam, some door sensors, and maybe some outside cams. I keep seeing everyone talk about alarm.com but are they self-monitored? What do you guys suggest? Thanks! Source: about 1 year ago
  • Can I reuse this panel from 2004? If so, how can I modernize it and use internet instead of phone connections?
The communication device only works with one remote interactive service platform. So alarm.com communicators only work with alarm.com, Alula communicators only work with Alula's interactive platform, Honeywell/Resideo communicators only work with Alarmnet Total Connect. So if you buy an alarm.com SEM for your Safewatch 3000, you have to use alarm.com. You have to use an alarm company that supports alarm.com... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Can I reuse this panel from 2004? If so, how can I modernize it and use internet instead of phone connections?
And then Total Connect is a separate service that allows me to monitor the status of the alarm remotely? And it would work with the alarm.com SEM you mentioned? Source: about 1 year ago
  • Can I reuse this panel from 2004? If so, how can I modernize it and use internet instead of phone connections?
It's a Vista 20p with firmware version 5.2. You're GTG for adding an alarm.com SEM, Envisalink EVL-4, AlarmDecoder, Alula BAT-Connect, and most any other third-party communicator. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Need some advice with security system purchase offered with builder options
What are your thoughts? Also why are wired sensors better than wireless? Is encryption of wireless sensors the reason? I have found encrypted sensors on the internet that work with IQ Panel 4 and alarm.com. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Need some advice with security system purchase offered with builder options
My little research shows that Sentry is offering plans with alarm.com from $19 but Sentry is all DIY. Source: about 1 year ago
  • How to update ancient home security system
Just googling, what's the difference between alarm.com and alarmgrid.com? Source: about 1 year ago
  • How to update ancient home security system
I checked and its currently unmonitored. But I guess we would want it to be monitored. Is alarm.com a good place to get either a 2GIG Edge + a Qolsys IQ4 hooked up? Source: about 1 year ago
  • Self monitoring on a monitored plan?
Yes, you can choose to have all alarm activity flow only through alarm.com for self-monitoring and not through a central station. The app is great. Easy to use, easy to customize and very responsive. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Vivint vs SimpliSafe vs ?
Alarm.com. Local service provider if you have one, otherwise Surety Home. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Access 2GIG with Phone or Connect Additional Siren?
If you have the installer code you can use this z wave siren, you should also know that you can take this system to any alarm.com dealer, surety home offers monitoring for $19 a month, if you want to self monitor its $14. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Telus home security
I recently switched to Liberty Security and have been happy with them -- they use alarm.com backend, but have their own central office monitoring. You can probably find someone cheaper, and definitely check with your home insurance provider because there are often affinity discounts available through them. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Telus home security
How about alarm.com for the monitoring and DIY for home automation? We do want some monitoring for when we're away etc. Source: about 1 year ago
