WattMate is a macOS menu bar app that shows how many watts each running app draws from your MacBook battery, and how many minutes of runtime you get back if you quit one. After you quit, it shows a receipt: what it promised against what actually happened. When the effect cannot be isolated honestly from everything else running, it says so instead of taking credit.
It also explains your nights. The macOS power log knows which service woke the Mac while the lid was closed and for how long, and WattMate reads it and names names. Plus history of today against yesterday, battery health for free, and honest ranges instead of fake precision.
It reads the Mac's own energy counters through IOKit. It does not measure household electricity, it is not a web app, and there is no iOS or Android version. Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon. Intel Macs are not supported, and that is a deliberate decision rather than a gap.
Pricing: 9.99 USD a year, or 29 USD once for a perpetual licence. Both open every paid part. A 10 day trial runs first and asks for no card. After the trial the app keeps working: the app list with their watts, battery health, the last session and the last night stay free.
