Couchsurfing: my preferred way of touring: you get to meet great and likeminded people, you don't have to lug around camping gear (although it's good to bring an indoor-sleeping bag). The site with name couchsurfing.com is broken. But the oldschool warmshowers.org and the new couchers.org are great! You have to treat this type of hospitality as a gift and not consider it a free service. If you can, hosting others... Source: 11 months ago
Check out r/bicycletouring and warmshowers.org. A bike, a tent and sleeping bag. Super cheap. Nothing fancy, plenty of freedom and joy and a community of people who will help you out. Just an idea, works for me. Source: about 1 year ago
I wonder if there is a website like warmshowers.org for folks willing to share their home chargers, or maybe a new feature for this on PlugShare.com . Source: about 1 year ago
Check out warmshowers.org its cycling hospitality network, you can find hosts on your adventure and host cyclist when your not adventuring. Source: about 1 year ago
Or you can become a member of 'Vrienden op de fiets' (friends on bikes) and stay in someones home for 25,-. Or use warmshowers.org (like couchsurfing but for cyclists). Source: about 1 year ago
For lodging: have you tried warmshowers.org ? That is a network for cyclists where you can stay with other cyclists - plenty of addresses in NL. Source: over 1 year ago
You could probably use warmshowers.org as well. It's generally for backpackers/bikepackers but still. Source: over 1 year ago
Warmshowers is were you find a place to sleep, share a dinner and have a good conversation with fellow cyclists. Source: over 1 year ago
I mostly used a website called warmshowers.org and another called couchsurfing.com which will allow you to stay in homes for free. Some people even feed you, fix your bike, and give you access to laundry. I only stayed in 1 hotel and it was only because there was a HUGE storm and it was far too windy to pitch a tent. I bartered down to $15 a night (which I had no idea I could do up until that point). The rest of... Source: over 1 year ago
Hi Redditors. I am interested in being a host for tourists. I heard about warmshowers.org but they charge hosts (wtf?). What are some alternative sites/communities? Doesn't have to be bicycle tourism specific. Source: over 1 year ago
Really want to save on costs? Join warmshowers.org: it's the couchsurfing of cyclists. It's been created by a fellow quebecers (who died a few years ago unfortunately) and the baseline is to offer for free a warm shower and a place to pitch the tent but many offer a couch to crash on. Look into bike touring. Check out warmshowers.org (CouchSurfing for touring cyclists). Source: about 2 years ago
Don't forget about warmshowers.org. Source: over 2 years ago
You can also look into warmshowers.org - a community where people offer space in their homes to cycle tourists. Source: over 2 years ago
I don't know that area very well unfortunately, but maybe you could check out if there are hosts listed on http://warmshowers.org (especially if you already have an account). It used to be free and easy to join but they've revamped their membership process, so I don't know what it takes now to become a member. But may be worth a look. Source: over 2 years ago
Have you heard of warmshowers.org? It's a community for bike travellers to get a bed for a night & the warm shower in it's title. Source: almost 3 years ago
There are quite a lot of alternatives such as bewelcome.org, trustroots.org, couchers.org, and warmshowers.org. I think that's the current problem though (pandemic aside): There's too many sites with too few users on each. Source: about 3 years ago
