You're going to need a much bigger population of players before you see legit matchmaking. As for general comp pavlov is still you main place for that. If you want to explore some other games with comp scenes you might check here. Source: about 2 years ago
For pavlov competitive gaming, check out https://vrmasterleague.com/ and join the discord. Ask someone for a link to the matchmaking server there to get in on some s&d lobbies. Also make certain you are adding community servers to your filter list. Contractors is a joke. Source: about 2 years ago

Maybe you want to look into getting involved with the VRML, or just join a discord group for one of those games. I'm on a Pavlov league team and play every chance I get with the regulars in my regional discord group. It's exactly the kind of co-op experience I enjoy. Source: almost 3 years ago
Echo Arena VRML is a community run VR Esports organization, part of the VR Master League which hosts games such as Onward, Pavlov, Contractors, and Snapshot VR.
