  • Show HN: DNS Benchmark Tool โ€“ Compare and monitor resolvers
Is this benchmarking various recursive DNS servers like CloudFlare (heh), Google DNS, Quad9, but from the vantage point if the installed machine? For the other way around, to query the same DNS query from different vantage points across the globe, I recommend https://viewdns.info/. It has quite a few vantage points, and shows the results. It doesn't benchmark recursive servers separately, so it some results can be... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Sunsetting Whois
This was announced originally early last year. It removes the requirement for TLD and nTLD (not ccTLD) operators to have a WHOIS service available, but doesn't mandate they must shut them down. So far the sunsetting has had little effect with most TLDs still having their WHOIS services online. In reality, I think we'll see a period of time where many TLDs and nTLDs have both WHOIS and RDAP available.... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

Heya, Founder of https://viewdns.info/ here (used by any mentioned in the article a bit). If anyone is doing this kind of research, feel free to reach out at feedback@viewdns.info as I'm more than happy to extend some free API credits etc! -Hughesey. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago

  • Subsidiary & Brand Domain Activity
I used viewdns.info - allowed me to search by registrant name. I looked for Bed Bath Procurement and Liberty Procurement for the list I grabbed (~600 results). Spotted the .sex TLD and filtered down to that and hand-verified whether each result was truly owned by BBBY. I work in IT Audit and InfoSec, so was a piece of cake to find and filter the data. :D. • Bounced internal Gmail email question
After doing some investigating, it looks like when I sent the email, it was initially sent via an IP address that falls within Googles IP range, but when I went to viewdns.info to lookup the IP, it was of a Domain that was not Google. Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Question about scope
Normally that means that every target that belongs to the company, is in scope except the one in the OOS section. Now the real question his, how can I be sure that a target is in scope? Well, whois command is your friend, if you have a domain name. If you have a ip address, you have to work more on it, anyway you can try some reverse DNS or other tool that you can find here: https://viewdns.info/ or you are... Source: almost 4 years ago

  • Spyse is shutting down. Are there any alternatives for checking DNS/IP history and all that?
Thanks, I've got DNSlytics as an extension on my browser, it's really good, but not up to the level I've come to known with Spyse. I wonder if viewdns.info is good, I haven't used it much. Source: over 4 years ago
  • New NFT Subdomain: support.NFT.Gamestop.com
I checked it out https://viewdns.info/ and it shows domain and IP Who is same registration info as gamestop.com - also fun fact.. When I went the support.nft site, even tho it was 403, the "Honey" widget popped up with the activate rewards for Gamestop (this could just be tied to the main domain of course). • IT Pro Tuesday - DNS/OSINT Tools, Open SSL Cheatsheet, Traffic Simulation & More
ViewDNS offers a nice, online collection of DNS and OSINT tools. The tools are also offered as an API to give webmasters the ability to easily integrate them into their own sites. A free API "sandbox" account has a monthly limit of 250 queries. Our appreciation for the recommendation goes to CingularIT. Source: over 5 years ago
