This page is designed to help you find out whether TypeFire.app is good and if it is the right choice for you.
TypeFire is three Mac tools in one app: a text expander, a clipboard manager and a markdown notes editor. Each one opens over whatever you are working in, on its own shortcut, so nothing you do means switching windows.
Snippets. Type an abbreviation and get the whole thing: a signature, an address, a reply you send ten times a day. Unlimited snippets, free forever, expanding in every native Mac app and every website, including the places Apple's own text replacement never reaches. Rich text and Markdown, live tokens for the date and the clipboard, fill-in fields that stop and ask for a value, and AI that rewrites a snippet as it expands. Imports from TextExpander, aText, Alfred and Espanso.
Clips. macOS remembers one thing you copied. TypeFire keeps the rest, searchable behind a shortcut without leaving the app you are in. Every image is read on your Mac, so a screenshot comes back for a word that only appears inside it. Password manager copies are never recorded. Everything is encrypted on your Mac.
Notes. Point it at a folder you own, including a live Obsidian vault, and it edits the same files in place. A live editor that formats as you type, wikilinks, backlinks, quick capture from any app, daily notes, and a graph of how everything you have written connects.
AI where you are. Highlight text in any Mac app and rewrite, fix, translate or summarize it in place. Runs on Apple Intelligence or a local model, or on your own OpenAI, Claude or Gemini key. No AI subscription.
Sync runs through your own iCloud Drive, with no TypeFire server in between. A free Chrome extension carries your snippets to Windows, Linux and ChromeOS. Runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, macOS 13 or later.
