I used https://tokentax.co/ They scan your addresses and give you tax documents. I fixed a couple things with them then gave the tax docs to my CPA. They give you everything you need so you could just file yourself. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Letter from HMRC
And since the block-chain is public, it would be pretty easy for HMRC to estimate how much tax you'd owe. Automated software like https://tokentax.co/ can do it already for DEXes on Ethereum, so I wouldn't be surprised if HMRC gets similar software in the next few years, and comes after people for back-taxes. • Crypto Tax for 2021
I just did a quick google search and it looks like TokenTax might be a good option. That said, I have no experience with them and have no idea what their pricing is like. They did upload a Youtube video on how it works, and it looks like it can connect to every exchange, so maybe that's your best bet. Source: almost 5 years ago
  • Taxes?
I used TokenTax then gave their report to my CPA. You could just used TokenTax though. Just try to keep all your defi stuff on one address. It will make things easier. Source: almost 5 years ago

Yeah, I've been going on the assumption that it's just income. My accountant agrees this is smart. I use TokenTax, they have capabilities to reporting staking as income. Been using them for 2 years now https://tokentax.co. Source: about 5 years ago
  • Terra Station re-delegation and auto reward withdrawal
Do you have a recommendation on tax software to use such as tokentax.co? Manually tracking this stuff in spreadsheets is for the birds. Some tax software doesn't appear to integrate rewards/earnings like Hotbit but only Orders which is also a pain. Source: about 5 years ago
  • Taxes question
CoinTaxList makes this crypto taxes by country, they have one about the US, (they're paid but relatively cheap) might be a place to start learning and understanding about it. You always use softwares like koinly.io or tokentax.co. Source: about 5 years ago
  • Safe way to leave your crypto infomation for a loved one in case of the unexpected ?
Oh, I hear ya. I use ApeBoard to try to keep track of my assets, and they've been pretty good overall. It's still going to be a nightmare next year when I have to file taxes on all this stuff and its so hard to keep track of all the purchases, sales, swaps, yields from DeFi etc. On all these various platforms. My tax guy is going to hate me when I ask him to help me untangle all this mess when it's time to do my... Source: about 5 years ago

Hah good point! I think something like https://tokentax.co/ can still help you do it quite easily because you can export all the transactions from the exchange. - Source: Hacker News / about 5 years ago
  • If you buy BTC and the price increases, you move your coin to a wallet, then send your coin to a friend or make a purchase with it, then bring it back to the exchange to sell the remaining coin for fiat... Where do the taxes apply?
I was just reading on tokentax.co which I believe is a crypto tax software that gifts are not taxable but you should tell the other person how much you originally paid for the crypto. I am guessing that is so the person could figure out proper capital gains if they decide to sell it. Source: over 5 years ago
  • Crypto tax query

  • Yet another tax question (2020: unemployed, CERB, Defi degen, spent lots on eth gas, etc)
In 2020 I made over 2000 defi transactions with my metamask wallet alone (this includes staking, borrowing, farming, approving tokens, buying, selling, claiming airdrops, providing liquidity, etc etc). There is obviously no way I want anyone to sort through all of these one by one. However, I can fairly easily export a spreadsheet of every transaction from within the zerion.io interface - and they have a... Source: over 5 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of TokenTax

TokenTax has garnered attention as a comprehensive solution for cryptocurrency tax compliance, particularly resonating well within the Fintech and Crypto industry. Its competitors include Koinly, CoinTracker, Blockpit, ZenLedger, Coinpanda, TaxBit, and BearTax. Across different community forums, reviews, and technical blogs, TokenTax stands out, garnering recognition for its user-centric interface and integrative capabilities.

A prevalent theme among users and reviewers is the ease-of-use that TokenTax provides. The software's intuitive interface is frequently highlighted, particularly appealing to users who integrate multiple exchanges using API keys. It also supports manual entry and CSV uploads of transaction data, making it versatile for diverse user needs. This adaptability is often lauded in crypto-focused discussions where managing a multitude of transactions across various platforms can become cumbersome.

Another commendable aspect is TokenTax's customer support. At every pricing tier, users have access to live chat support from knowledgeable product experts, which is a significant differentiator from its counterparts. This level of support is especially crucial for users navigating complex tax regulations and seeking prompt assistance in resolving potential tax issues.

In discussions regarding recommendations for transaction software, TokenTax is frequently suggested due to its robustness in handling complex reconciliation processes. Its ability to scan addresses and provide coherent tax documents makes it particularly appealing for users with intricate transaction histories, including those involving DeFi transactions, staking rewards, and multiple crypto wallets.

TokenTax's integration with several financial applications further enhances its value proposition. Forums addressing various tax concerns, from staking rewards being classified as income to reconciling exchanges with missing data, position TokenTax as a reliable resource capable of addressing these challenges efficiently.

Despite these praises, the perception of TokenTax is not without caution. Concerns regarding the potentially expensive nature of the software relative to alternative options do exist, though these are typically outweighed by the value users receive in terms of time saved and accuracy ensured. Moreover, its capabilities in the U.S. and other regulatory frameworks like the UK’s HMRC show that it is not only designed for immediate use but potentially future-proofs its users against evolving tax regulations.

In conclusion, TokenTax is favorably viewed within the cryptocurrency community, praised for its user-friendly design, comprehensive support, and effective reconciliation capabilities. While it competes with several other crypto tax software, its balance between intuitive usability and expert support positions it as a preferred solution for many cryptocurrency investors looking to streamline their tax processes efficiently and compliantly.
