1. What makes Tidy for Mac unique?

   Tidy works the minute you install it, with no rules to build first. It is the only Mac organizer that renames files from what is written inside them: on-device OCR reads images and scanned PDFs, and with Apple Intelligence you can write your own free-form naming prompt per rule ("lowercase, hyphens, date at the end") and the local model names files that way.    Because it is built around trust, and because it costs $9 once. Tidy never deletes anything, it moves to the Trash. It only touches files created after you install it, so your existing backlog is untouchable. Dry-run mode previews every move before it happens, a searchable history records everything, and any sorting run can be undone with one click. 3. How would you describe the primary audience of Tidy for Mac?

   Mac users whose Downloads folder and Desktop get out of control faster than they can clean them: designers, students, freelancers, developers, anyone who downloads and screenshots all day. Also people who are careful with their files and their privacy, and who want automation they can preview and undo instead of trusting blindly.

4. What's the story behind Tidy for Mac?

   I built it because my own Downloads folder had 698 files in it. It launched in July 2026 and reached #17 Product of the Day on Product Hunt, and from that first day the rule has been simple: if a user asks for something reasonable, it ships in days, not quarters. Nine community requests went live within days of being asked. When a German reviewer gave Tidy 5/5 and wished the app spoke German, the whole app and website were localized the same day his article was published.

   Native Swift and SwiftUI, macOS 14 and later, universal binary for Apple Silicon and Intel.
