  • Therapist?
Our clinic (Boston IVF) had a counselor on staff who was wonderful. You might ask your clinic who they recommend - they will know of ones who specialize in issues around infertility. You might also check resolve.org. They have a lot of support and mental health resources. Source: 11 months ago
  • Still struggling with come backs to “adopt”
What she is doing to you is bad practice, and you aren't even her client. She really, really needs to work on informing herself of the experiences of women traveling through the journey of infertility, including yours. If you want to maintain the friendship, you might suggest she learn more through resolve.org, or through a conversation with you where she mostly just listens (something she clearly needs to work... • Hi I'm Merle Bombardieri, former clinical director of national RESOLVE. Ask Me Anything!
Have you asked your therapist to be more interactive or considered switching. It is helpful to review how treatment is going at regular interviews. Perhaps you can tell the therapist what's helped while letting him or her know, that there are times when you feel you need more feedback, advice or support. If your therapist doesn't have a professional training in infertility, you might consider seeing someone... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Hi I'm Merle Bombardieri, former clinical director of national RESOLVE. Ask Me Anything!
For infertility info online, I recommend FertilityFacts.org, the public education arm of ASRM American Soc. Of Reproductive Medicine, resolve.org, the great national support organization, and creatingafamily.org. Source: about 1 year ago
  • I’m not “happy for her”
I’ve felt the EXACT same way as you. I’m feeling better after attending infertility support groups and finding a therapist who specializes in infertility in the RESOLVE website. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Off the fence, can't have kids, so now, a new and different fence?
Crucial information: This bad news is so new, that you can't be ABSOLUTELY certain you couldn't be happy with a child through a donor. It is too early to be certain even though you can't imagine changing your mind. As a therapist/coach specializing in infertility, I can tell you I know hundreds of happy parents through egg donation who for months or years were certain they would never go that route. They... • The financial burden of infertility
Yup. Advocacy around coverage is one of the main things resolve does as an organization. It sucks. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I have no trust in my body at all. FET next week and all I can think is that my embryos are safer outside my body than inside my body.
Thank you for this - I will definitely look into resolve.org. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Advocating for parental leave and fertility insurance within your company
Have you ever connected with your local resolve organization? There are some great resources and and employee toolkit to advocate for just what you are mentioning. They even have a pre-filled template for you to send to HR. You are doing great things not only for yourself but those who could come after you. Wishing you the most luck! Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Therapy during TTC
Hi, therapist here and also struggling with TTC. We don’t generally getting any training around TTC, infertility, or anything within perinatal mental health in training (maybe a passing mention of postpartum depression) and it really is a speciality. Like you said it’s not realistic to be specialized in everything but the number of times I hear from people that they brought up struggling to conceive and were met... Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Requesting increase in insurance benefits?
Interested to see responses for this. My new company offers no coverage, and I'm considering how to advocate for it to HR. I know resolve.org has some resources and I think templates for talking to your workplace about fertility benefits. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Failed transfer. It’s always bad news.
Ohhhh such big hugs for you! Infertility is a rough, lonely road. You're carrying a heavy burden already as a military spouse, And pretty much everyone going through infertility feels isolated and alone. Definitely, definitely find a therapist, specialty or even just regular. Maybe even group therapy. Check out resolve.org, which has some nationwide resources. I started individual and group therapy here and has... Source: about 2 years ago
  • Ivf live birth guarantee??
There are resources on resolve.org and there are also some beat infertility episodes about how to go about this. one thing that resonated with me was that most employers don't have this kind of coverage simply because they aren't aware their employees need it. and understandably so, since there aren't many of us speaking up about it. even if you can't get coverage for you, by asking about it you WILL help...
