Neat! There's also Redirector [1], which allows to do all kinds of redirects like this. For example, I use it to redirect from YouTube to Invidious or from Booking.com confirmation page to the variant without upsells (which are otherwise tricky to block with uBlock Origin). Then let a browser plugin do it. Works well so far, but it's still an imposition what reddit does here, unreadable. e.g. https://einaregilsson.com/redirector/. Source: 5 months ago
This is cool but imo it makes more sense to have URL redirection as a browser extension. That way all twitter links resolve to nitter. I use this one https://einaregilsson.com/redirector/. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
I still have a few accounts I glance at from time to time. Hockey, Game Devs, Artists, etc. Who haven't migrated away despite everything, so this is kinda obnoxious. I created some Redirector (https://einaregilsson.com/redirector/) rules to redirect Tweet and Twitter Profile URLs to their HTML embed equivalents. Should be able to just import the rules and it seems to work alright with some caveats. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
I would highly suggest that you use something like Redirector instead of this. Redirector gives you the ability to create any general redirects as you see fit. For example, I have a de-mobilizer redirect (primarily for Wikipedia) and a redirect for YouTube shorts to use the native video player page. The extension is also open-source. Source: 12 months ago
That works for Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Opera and probably anything that supports WebExtensions. https://einaregilsson.com/redirector/. Source: about 1 year ago
For redirections you can also use the extensions Redirector and RequestControl. The first one is (IMHO) easier to configure, but the second one has more features. Source: about 1 year ago
In this example, we will use a client-rendered app. We will primarily use two tools: a browser plugin called Redirector and a CDN like AWS's CloudFront. If you prefer serving static files or if the app is server-rendered, you can even use an NGINX reverse-proxy. However, for this example, we will only be using CloudFront. - Source: dev.to / about 1 year ago
Https://einaregilsson.com/redirector/ - Create redirects for specific webpages - e.g. Always redirect http://bing.com to http://google.com - on firefox and chromium browsers - I am using it redirect big sites to my self-hosted alternatives, one example I can give would be - StackOverflow -> AnonymousOverflow - YT -> Invidius. Install a redirection extension; I find redirector to be the simplest and safest for now; somebody told me that it has not been maintained for some years; therefore, it may be buggy; choose some other extension, if you may. Source: over 1 year ago
I just remembered, there's a Firefox addon I use called Redirector, which I already have set up to redirect mobile Wikipedia links to desktop. Problem is, I didn't write the rules I'm using myself, and they appear to use regex. Source: over 1 year ago
[2] Arkenfox suggest optionally to use "Redirector" extension, but it was updated in early 2020. This is fine, or should we avoid extensions, that are not maintained regularly? Theoretically answer is simple – avoid, but if everything works, maybe it's not a problem? Source: over 1 year ago
You can use an extension like (Redirector)[https://einaregilsson.com/redirector/] to automatically redirect any Twitter URL to Nitter with the following: `Redirect: https://twitter.com/*. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
Some popular sites have alternative interfaces, e.g. Twitter → Nitter. They are a much better user experience if you just want to lurk. Configure your browser to automatically redirect: • https://github.com/SimonBrazell/privacy-redirect#custom-instances • https://einaregilsson.com/redirector/ (use for Imgur → Rimgo until Privacy Redirect has it). - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
I was able to accomplish this by installing this extension (I used Firefox, but it's all the same): https://einaregilsson.com/redirector/. Source: over 1 year ago
Woo, very interesting. I use Redirector, but Request Control seems to have many more features. I will look into it. Source: almost 2 years ago
I use Redirector for this kind of thing. Source: almost 2 years ago
I use a Firefox extension to do it - https://einaregilsson.com/redirector/. You might be able to do some local DNS with a wildcard shenanigans, but this is much easier to set up. I actually don't redirect my Reddit requests, since once in a blue moon I will want to comment on something, which libreddit doesn't support. However Invidious does have the option to let you follow certain channels, and since I don't... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
I finally got around to installing the browser extension Redirector, https://einaregilsson.com/redirector/ and configured to redirect any old Pebble Store links when I click on them. Export file below in case any one else finds it useful:. Source: about 2 years ago
Use an extension such as Redirector to redirect all shorts links to the regular player. Source: about 2 years ago
