There is a wonderful Pure Paste application by u/sindresorhus that strips formatting from copied content. Maccy is now fully compatible with it and ensures that the recorded copies take into account modifications made by Pure Paste. Source: over 1 year ago

Pure Paste: Default to pasting as plain text only without formatting, or alternatively set up a shortcut to paste as plain text. Helpful when the built-in paste and match style thing sometimes preserves things like links and formatting, when I just want plain text. Source: over 2 years ago
