  • Carapace: A multi-shell completion library and binary
Beyond zprof (https://www.bigbinary.com/blog/zsh-profiling) not really I'm afraid. I did the majority of my zsh-prompt hacking 10 years ago and haven't thought about it since. That snippet could be from anywhere. You could peek at something like zprezto https://github.com/sorin-ionescu/prezto for tips. Fetching git/hg/... Info is always slow, so try and speed that up where you can (as to how to do that,... - Source: Hacker News / 7 days ago
  • I think Linux might be the superior platform for gaming at this point.
Is the command line really so scary? I enjoy using it from time-to-time (usually not for gaming related reasons) and I like things like Prezto to make it look pretty. Source: 11 months ago
  • Best terminal app for MacOs
I switched from Oh My Zsh to Prezto years ago. OMZ at the time was excruciatingly slow, but that may have changed. Maybe I should take another look at it, but Prezto has been great. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I was frustrated with the way Windows handles Hebrew on Latin keyboards, so I wrote an open-source IME for Hebrew to make it easier! You download it, type in the phonetics, and it gives you the Hebrew.
I installed iTerm2 and zsh shell with Prezto and I love my command line on OSX I use homebrew to install any tools that are missing and use pyenv to manage my python version (which I also do on Linux) that and the clang/gcc from the OSX command line tools and I pretty much have a full Un*x shell for anything I need to do. • Reasons to change the default terminal to Warp
Moreover, there are tools were made on top of those to provide more functionalities, and fill some of the gaps, for instance, oh-my-zsh, Prezto, oh-my-fish, and much more. However, the default embedded terminal in macOS is still lacking something. That's why iTerm and other terminal like Hyper. It provides you a set of customization to boost your productivity. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
  • How do I move git branch from right side to inside the prompt in prezto?
I have been looking through the prezto docs and configuration, and I've googled it, but I can't figure it out. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Master any CLI tool with this one weird trick
I recently heard about prezto which is a fork of ohmyzsh but haven't tried it yet (most of the plugins I use are in ohmyzsh) it is more customizable and less bloated than ohmyzsh. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
  • Sweet Shell: With Oh-My-Zsh, SpaceVim, Starship, True Color, and Demo Mode
Also don't like OMZ because of feature and performance bloat. I've been using prezto -- it's very modular and fast. https://github.com/sorin-ionescu/prezto. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Choosing ZSH framework
If you want to try a different preconfigured shell environment, big names are Prezto and zsh4humans. Prezto, like OMZ, comes with a plugin manager built in; zsh4humans does not. Source: over 1 year ago
  • A single-command setup script for Zsh, Prezto and Powerlevel10k theme
I've been meaning to automate my Zsh setup for a long time, and have finally done it based on this awesome GitHub project. I updated the installation script to use Prezto and zplug to keep things a bit tidier, and added an option to automatically download the recommended Nerd Font for Powerlevel10k theme. Source: over 1 year ago
  • SL (Steam Locomotive)
I am guilty of not reading the docs, but I learnt by experience that n/y/a/e stands for no (run without correction)/yes (correct)/abort (don't run)/edit (manually/interactively) [0] https://github.com/sorin-ionescu/prezto. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • Zsh 5.9
I switched from Bash to ZSH with the caveat that I use prezto and powerlevel10k (included with prezto) and I will never go back. https://github.com/sorin-ionescu/prezto. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • Zsh users are liars
Autosuggestions/syntax highlighting/etc: Prezto is a pretty nice framework to start you off. It's got plugins from zsh-users give you all that fish goodness and some nice prompts so you can have an attractive shell. It also sets way better Zsh options than the defaults, and is noticeably faster than oh-my-zsh. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Have them all with Zsh & ZI
Many Zsh users have their favorites like Oh My Zsh, Prezto, powerlevel10k and it is hard to get all the favorites to work simultaneously in a way you would enjoy it. - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago
  • Zsh Plugins Commit TOP
Powerlevel9k 🥇 💼 - Powerlevel9k is a theme for ZSH which uses Powerline Fonts. It can be used with vanilla ZSH or ZSH frameworks such as Oh-My-Zsh, Prezto, Antigen, and many others. - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago
  • Zsh Frameworks
Prezto. 12.5k GitHub stars. Here's the first serious fork. It began as an extremely talented programmer forking it and spending 1 whole year cleaning up Oh My Zsh's code, fixing performance issues and bugs, cleaning up the code organization and making everything a lot better. Unfortunately, Oh My Zsh's author felt like the changes made it "no longer his code", so he didn't merge it. Prezto then became its own... Source: over 2 years ago

  • what does a plugin manager/framework do?
Prezto. Started as a fork of Oh My Zsh but eventually has been completely rewritten. It's more carefully coded than Oh My Zsh but less actively maintained and has higher barrier to entry. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Need help with prezto zsh load times (>30s)
You can open an issue on https://github.com/sorin-ionescu/prezto to ask for help. If you want to try diagnosing it yourself, check how long ls -l /mts/yyyy/xxxx/sandbox/scripts takes. If it's slow, this is outside of scope of this sub. If it's fast, run this:. Source: over 2 years ago
  • New to Mac entirely, and somewhat to DevOps. Any suggestions on getting started moving from primarily Windows/Linux? Given a MacBook Pro 2019 16"
+1, although I prefer zprezto to oh-my-zsh. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Bash or Zsh
For framework I originally went with the massively popular oh-my-zsh, but after trying Prezto, I was sold on it. It's cleaner, more organized and logical - for my brain anyway. It has all the plug-ins I need. Source: almost 3 years ago
