Also most of the fanart is on pixiv.net , just type ใจใชใ‚Šใฎๆ€ช็‰ฉใใ‚“ on the search bar, there's like 3000 results. Source: over 3 years ago
  • messed with page source material on chrome and now I can't make it back to normal
This is embarrassing, but I have no idea what I even did, I am not tech savvy, and I need help fixing it. I was looking online about how to block the premium "popular" search on pixiv.net. Someone said to just click "inspect" and delete the piece of code that contained the pop up. Sure, why not, I thought, and I clicked inspect, and hit "delete" on the portion I thought might be it. Now my page is permanently... Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Is it me or is Pixiv down again?
I keep on getting an error code 520 and apparently, the host (which is pixiv.net) is not working? Anyone experiencing this too? Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Thinking of branching to VA
Thanks and you're welcome ^^ As far as I know most VA's get the artwork either from pixiv.net, picrew.me (it's basically a website where you can find some presets for characters and play with the options a bit in order to get the look you want), maybe some other platforms or they even commission the artwork. Though most of the bigger VA's have their artwork commissioned because it's the safest and easiest way for... Source: almost 4 years ago

  • Is there any bookworm fan fiction?
Try archiveofourown.org I don't know if there's something that specifically is that, I tend to prefer fics with canon chars, but that's where it is most likely to be, if you want it in english. If you can read japanese, pixiv.net would be better. Source: about 4 years ago

  • Mozilla is going to track Facebook tracking you
I only use Chrome because a single pixiv.net plugin isn't available for FF and my FF can't take voice input for google translate when I want to practice pronunciation. Literally its only use for me. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Images aren't working with Waterfox.
Images aren't loading on drop.com and pixiv.net but so far other sites are fine. I tried the same sites in a private window and they still didn't work. I don't have any extension enable in private mode and I tried both of the sites with Edge and Waterfox classic and they worked just fine. I have also tried disabling the shield in the top left on both site but it didn't have any effect. Source: over 4 years ago

  • I don't play this game, but I got a character from it in this random card thing. Can someone tell me more about the character and who they are? And can someone find the artist as well?
That's not one game. Characters in it are from lots of animations and games, such as genshin, azur lane, eva, gundam, konosuba and so on. There cards are produced by a little-known company called small frog, so I don't think it could get permission from all those game and animation companies. And those pictures seem to be copied from several websites such as pixiv.net. Source: over 4 years ago

You should check out pixiv.net; there are so many city fanarts there. Most of the Pinterest ones are from there. Source: almost 5 years ago

Like u/KerosenyKlopoty31 mentioned under main thread, this rule basically killed sharing fanart from large galleries, for example from pixiv.net. Source: almost 5 years ago
  • Images/Elements stop loading after content injection
I'm writing a chrome extension that injects a button on top of every image in an image list. On most sites, it works fine, but on this one site (pixiv.net), as soon as I inject the button, images that aren't already loaded never load. I tried playing around with where I'm injecting the button, and I found that in some places, it stops other elements from loading, so it's not just images. Source: almost 5 years ago

  • What are the "thumbs/fingers in corners of mouth" artworks called and what's the reasoning behind them?
I don't know why, but there's quite a few of these sort of artworks on pixiv.net . Here's a simple drawing of what I am talking about: https://imgur.com/a/Hnkzs23. Source: almost 5 years ago

Test the waters, see what you can make happen, and make your final choice after instagram makes their changes and you see how it changes your experience. Source: about 5 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of pixiv

As a prominent platform within the online artistic community, Pixiv has carved a niche for itself, especially among fans of anime, manga, and other art styles prevalent in Japanese culture. Originally established in Shibuya, Tokyo, in 2007, Pixiv emerged as a digital haven for Japanese artists to showcase their work and connect with like-minded individuals. Since then, it has expanded its reach beyond Japan, gaining traction in international circles and standing out as a significant competitor in the realm of online art communities.

Public Perception of Pixiv

Pixiv is often compared to DeviantArt, another giant in the online art community. Many users perceive Pixiv as the closest alternative to DeviantArt, noting its robust platform that facilitates the sharing of artworks, providing feedback, and building followership, similar to DeviantArt's offerings. This comparison is particularly compelling for those drawn to anime and manga art styles, as Pixiv is widely recognized for a significant concentration of such content. Artists who engage with Pixiv often do so to keep abreast of trends within the Japanese art scene or to derive inspiration from Japan's distinct visual culture.

Strengths of the Platform

Several features elevate Pixiv as a preferred choice for art lovers and creators. It offers search algorithms and tagging systems that undergo regular updates to enhance user experience. Additionally, it provides the functionality to change the site's language to English, making it relatively accessible for non-Japanese speakers, although the predominant language of content remains Japanese.

Pixiv's appeal is notably heightened amongst those interested in anime-style artworks and manga comics. It also serves as a valuable repository for fanart and allows users to explore fan content effectively, often praised for its comprehensive range of anime imagery.

Challenges and Criticism

Despite its strengths, Pixiv is not without its share of challenges. Technical issues occasionally surface, such as error codes and slow image loading, which can impair user experience. Moreover, anecdotes about the platform being down or not supporting certain plugins can occasionally be a source of frustration. The platform also faces criticism regarding copyright issues, with some artists concerned about unauthorized use of their work.

Conclusion

Overall, Pixiv has established itself as a formidable force in the domain of online art communities, especially among enthusiasts of Japanese visual culture. Its ability to foster a dynamic space for artists and supporters alike is a key strength. However, like any platform, it contends with technological vulnerabilities and needs to address copyright concerns more robustly to maintain and enhance its standing in the global art community. As it continues to evolve, Pixiv remains a crucial destination for those seeking artistic inspiration, feedback, and community interactions.
