I've had my note20 ultra since 2021 and it was great, the phone still works nicely and fast, but now that Samsung stopped giving the big updates, should I install a custom rom? I've been thinking of getting this one Pixel Experience, should I do it? Is it safe? Will it brick my phone? Source: over 2 years ago
If you're familiar with the Pixel launcher and overall experience, I'd recommend you have a look at the custom ROM Pixel Experience. It's almost a 1:1 copy of what you get on latest Pixels. Source: about 3 years ago

The build quality is amazing being made with an aluminum backing, is the last generation of phones with your rear mounted fingerprint scanner, and has custom rom support. Say you want android 14/15 but Google arbitrary decides your phone doesn't get it. https://get.pixelexperience.org/ You can install this and get your features/updates back since the hardware is still fine. I feel like what you want to hear is get a Pixel 7/7pro which are amazing phones. Xiaomi can be used in a way you'd like, but you need to tinker with it first. https://get.pixelexperience.org/ Any Xiaomi phone compatible with Pixel Experience will run like a Pixel missing its bonus features (such telling you what song is playing in the background), but will be low bloatware, and have the specs/cost of a Xiaomi... Yup, MIUI's like that. Fortunately for us, it's easier to install custom OS on xiaomi devices. That's what I did to restore my old and slow Redmi 6A back to life. I installed LineageOS because it's one of the lightest ROM around. I suggest you do the same. Maybe try pixel experience? Source: almost 4 years ago

The pixel ui (stock android in pixel phones) offers some great features like call screening and hold for me as mentioned above and I haven't seen such feature in any custom rom yet. Tap-tap is another feature the pixel ui offers and many roms do provide it, but I don't know whether LOS for your device has this feature (also, there is an app named tap tap which does the same). Pixel Experience is a custom ROM that has generated substantial public interest within the Android enthusiast community, chiefly due to its ability to bring Google's Pixel-like software experience to a wide range of non-Pixel devices. As we explore the public sentiment surrounding Pixel Experience, several key themes emerge from the discussions and content mentions.
Device Support and Features
Pixel Experience is notably well-regarded for its extensive device support, spanning brands from Xiaomi to Sony, thus making it a popular choice for a wide array of users. The ROM incorporates signature Pixel features, such as the latest Google Assistant, Google Camera (GCam) support, and Pixel's live wallpapers, which serve as major draws for users seeking the clean and feature-rich environment typically associated with Google's own flagship devices.
Stability and Usability
Many users and reviewers commend Pixel Experience for its stability, which is often an essential criterion for those who rely on their devices for everyday tasks. The ROM's stability might be contrasted with other custom ROMs like Evolution X, which some users report as buggy. However, it is worth noting that some users have raised concerns regarding performance when using the default kernel, indicating that certain optimizations might be necessary to achieve the best possible experience.
Community and Support
The Pixel Experience ROM is appreciated for being CAF-based, which implies optimizations and enhancements from Qualcomm, potentially improving performance on supported devices. Community backing is a central tenet to any custom ROM, and Pixel Experience enjoys strong community support. Its popularity ensures extensive documentation and user testimonials, providing valuable resources for troubleshooting and customizations.
Comparison with Competitors
When compared to other ROMs like LineageOS, crDroid, and Evolution X, Pixel Experience aligns itself as a user-friendly solution that strikes a balance between providing a Pixel-like experience while retaining reasonable customization capabilities. While LineageOS is lauded for its de-googled implementation and robust stability, Pixel Experience positions itself with the inclusion of Google apps (GApps) and services, appealing to users who prefer these functionalities out-of-the-box.
User Concerns
Despite its popularity, some potential users express concerns about the safety and process of installing Pixel Experience, fearing potential bricking of devices. This concern is common across the custom ROM community and underscores the importance of thorough research and adhering to installation guidance documents.
Concluding Thoughts
Overall, Pixel Experience maintains a favorable reputation within the custom ROM community. It is celebrated for delivering a comprehensive Pixel-like experience across numerous devices coupled with strong stability. However, like any custom ROM, it demands a certain level of technical acumen and willingness to engage with community resources for optimal results. As the ROM progresses and continues to evolve, its capacity to incorporate newer Android features and maintain stability will be crucial to sustaining its reputation in the competitive landscape of custom Android ROMs.
