Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing PingLocate.
  1. What makes PingLocate unique?

Two things. First, the other person never needs to install anything: they just tap a link in their browser and agree. Second, we never show a made-up location. Every result tells you what it's based on, so you know when a spot is exact and when it's approximate.

  2. Why should a person choose PingLocate over its competitors?

Because it removes friction and doesn't overpromise. There's no app to download on either phone, no account for the person sharing their location, and it works on any device with a browser. You get a real answer fast, and we're straight with you about how accurate it is.

  3. How would you describe the primary audience of PingLocate?

Everyday people, not techies and not companies. Parents checking that a kid got home, someone meeting a friend and wanting to see where they actually are, people picking someone up, or finding a person in a crowd at a big event. Anyone who has asked "where are you right now" and wanted a real answer without installing anything.

  4. What's the story behind PingLocate?

We're a small team that's spent years around location and telecom tooling. We kept needing a simple way to share a location without making both people download an app, and the options out there either required an install or didn't actually work. So we built the simplest version we could: type a number, send a link, they tap it, done. We made honesty about accuracy part of it from day one.

  5. Which are the primary technologies used for building PingLocate?

Next.js for the front end, served as static pages on Cloudflare Pages. A small PHP service handles the location request and the link. Cloudflare Turnstile keeps out bots and abuse, and the actual position comes from the browser's own location feature when the person taps the link. Kept deliberately simple so the site stays fast.

  6. Who are some of the biggest customers of PingLocate?

There's no big enterprise customer to name. We're a small, self-funded tool, and our users are individuals and families, not companies. Right now we're focused on word of mouth from people who try it once and pass it along.
