Check out https://openlibrary.org. You can search ´library science’, librarian’, etc, and something should come up. Just select the ‘ebooks’ option to search for items within the collection. And you can narrow the search by subject, etc. Source: 5 months ago
Right now I'm in the middle of the chicken and the egg problem where we don't have enough authors cataloging their publications and b/c of that obviously readers are not interested in using the site. I've gone back and forth with taking Open Libray's [0] catalog as that would at least flesh out our collection of books but then I'd have to deal with verifying authors to accounts so they can access their books.... - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago

The Internet Archive runs what they call the Open Library, which is a unique concept on the traditional library. You can sign-up with minimal details and digitally check out many scanned books from libraries all over the world. The only caveat is that almost all of the books are older editions - ones that would be impossible to find locally. It's great if you're looking for old routes, a look back in time, details... I want to clarify that I'm a non-US citizen, so accessing physical copies from US libraries or buying it from Amazon might not be feasible for me. To give you some context, my personal research was guided by the wiki section of r/FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH (https://www.reddit.com/r/FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH/wiki/reading/). I've conducted research using various online resources, including the Ebook & Open Source/Access Libraries... Source: 7 months ago
There are tons of them available. Here's the Creative Commons Search portal: https://search.creativecommons.org/ I tried Openverse and Europeana. Some of these appear to categorize eBooks as "images", or perhaps they are just promotional images for unfree books. Tens of thousands of results. Here's a Google Books search. I was unable to find a "search for license" type thing, but you can search for "Fully... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
Wow, I just realided Open Library covers like 80% of Goodreads as well: read/to-read lists, ratings, yearly reading goals. Seems like https://openlibrary.org itself would be a find Goodreads alternative if you don't want to set up your own Bookwyrm instance. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago

PDFDrive.com is no longer viable but as others have pointed out, PDFDrive.to and OceanofPDF.com are still active. If I can't find what I'm looking for, I go to the Internet Archive (https://archive.org/details/inlibrary and https://openlibrary.org/) for downloads. It is possible to download a PDF (instead of 1 hour online loan) and used the procedure shown in... Source: 10 months ago
I will definitely check out openlibrary.org and manybooks.net. But I want to make sure that I don't "bypass" anything because there are way too many eyes watching way too many things. Source: 10 months ago

I already had a bunch of books stored in my Calibre program but I'm finding a lot of sources online like the Gutenberg Project and others. My library has quite a few books available to take out via Libby but there are other sites to borrow books from also, like https://openlibrary.org/. People I know can also share their personal libraries through their Calibre sharing server and I could easily read for years and... Source: 11 months ago
Thanks! Their "sister" site openlibrary.org gave me a hint to try to find it on world cat, a catalog of every(?) library in the world. found it in a couple libraries that I'm going to try to pursue. Source: 11 months ago

It is very important at your young age to know local tenancy laws inside and out where no matter where you may live. Make it your personal homework to help protect your access to shelter or any living space you live in. The above link also gave a link to recommended books. One of them is Every Tenant's Legal Guide.
