  • Noteable.io Is Shutting Down
And I was confusing it with https://notable.app/. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
  • Joplin – open-source note-taking and to-do application with sync
I tried many note-taking apps and finally settled on Notable[0]. It's simple and you can point it to a folder with markdown files and attachments. Plus, you can just sync the folder using any syncing service, and use Noteless[1] on Android. And the tagging support is superb. Because of the simple folder structure, you can also use vim+fzf to search/navigate your notes. The notational-fzf-vim plugin[2] is superb... - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • How do you guys keep track of your shots and notes?
I use https://notable.app/ for my notes, backup the notes / setup on a private github repo which I share with the Mac / Linux versions I use. Been working really well. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Obsidian.md communicating with Discord
Not necessarily the answer you seek but you may check Notable. Source: about 1 year ago
  • A note-taking app idea that works with our chaotic organic brains
Notable might also be a good alternative -- it stores notes in standard Markdown, so there's no lock-in, but it displays inline images and has a lot of similar features to Obsidian. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Are there any open source note taking apps for Mac with rich formatting and keeps full note history?
Maybe Notable with Git? https://notable.app. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Name a program that doesn't get enough love!
Notable - Notes are written in Markdown, plus you can write KaTeX expressions, Mermaid diagrams, and more. Beautiful design. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Internet Archive Scholar
I use the markdownload extension[1] on firefox and move the .md file into my notes folder (notable[2]). Works very well. 1. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/markdownload/ 2. https://notable.app/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • What makes people hate electron ?
There's exactly one non-webapp Electron-based application that I like and use semi-regularly -- Notable, because it has a skilled developer behind it, enough feature improvement to lure me away from KeepNote, and uses standard markdown files, so there's no lock-in to worry about. Every other Electron-based desktop app I've tried has been a fast uninstall. Source: over 1 year ago
  • My next Mac might be the last
I switched to lenovo+linux+regolith for daily use a long time ago after my mid-2010 macbook pro started having problems. I love the productivity gain from using a tiling window manager now, and can't imagine using anything else. In terms of finder/preview, I've since moved to using vifm (tui) configured with zathura(pdf/djvu), calibre(epub), sxiv(images), mpv(videos). This works very well with the tiling window... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Does anyone else leave notes with quotes from style guides or from client instructions because you know your qm is substandard on a good day?
I use Notable to organise instructions from queries, feedback or from other obscure sources (the main client I work with is very disorganised and they have several instructions/details not present in their style guide). Source: over 1 year ago
  • Best site/programm for creating documents
There are plenty of desktop/mobile apps for working with markdown. (I've been using Notable (desktop) and GitJournal (mobile ) for an Evernote-like experience.) And markdown is often extended with support for internal links like a wiki, attachments, diagramming (see Mermaid), and easy export to other formats like HTML. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Inkdrop: Organizing your Markdown notes made simple
I would honestly just use something like notable and sync the files over any cloud service. notable: https://notable.app/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • What application do you use for organising your ideas before you start writing?
Then I switched to Notable, which is great. It supports hierarchical note-taking using "notebook" tags, is blazing fast, and has everything I need. In addition, it stores everything as flat markdown files on your hard drive, no giant XML files or anything. It's great and it's been a tremendous productivity booster for me. It's also free. • Opensource Dropbox Paper alternative?
I tried many apps, the best fitting for me is just markdown files and use Apostrophe as the editor (live preview). There was also Notable, but it's no longer opensource. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Write Plain Text Files
For several years I was ad avid notepad.exe + plain text files practitioner for capturing any note but have switched to using https://notable.app for capturing any adhoc notes. It has the same in spirit & benefits of maintaining plain-text .md files in a static directory but has all the niceties of rich markdown, embeds, attachments, search and metadata captured in .md frontmatter to tag notes with categories +... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
  • Show HN: Supernotes 2 – a fast, Markdown notes app for journalling and sharing
This looks pretty nice if you need to use its features however for me Notable [1] is the perfectly minimal Markdown Notes App that does everything I need from a Notes/TODOs App: has a quick UI to manage a static directory of Markdown files, with search, tags & pinned notes. It's the only Notes App that's stuck over using Notepad.exe for writing quick notes. [1] https://notable.app. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
  • Dendron: A personal knowledge management (PKM) solution built on VS Code
I still like Notable - easy to use and cross platform: https://notable.app/. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Stay organized with your pentesting knowledge
Linux hey? I use https://notable.app it's offline not a online app. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Typora 1.0 needs a license code to use
Never meta a WYSIWYG markdown editor I liked since all efforts of making it WYSIWYG impacts text editing. For all markdown docs now I've moved to just using VS Code with a live reload UI, the best DevUX I've found is VitePress [1] which immediately updates on save and shows the real thing, i.e. Exactly how the docs will look including rendering any custom markdown-it extensions or Vue Components embedded in the... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Open-Source Contributors Worth Sponsoring
Drilling down this list helped me to find https://notable.app by @fabiospampinato It looks like a beautifully simple Markdown Notes Desktop App (Win/Mac/Linux). Have just been playing with it to import plain .txt files lying around no my Desktop. Has a simple out-of-the-way UI for creating markdown pages, organize active ones in tags, favorites or pin to top. Saves as plain .md files in 1 folder. Zen, floating &... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
