Given that I have the domain backordered at name.com, if I place another backorder on drop catch, won't that constitute as more than one backorder? Source: 10 months ago
I registered a domain through name.com and purchased a year of Google Workspace for access to emails. I'd like to do a pretty basic website, mostly just informational with a contact us form. How are you guys doing this relatively affordable? Source: 10 months ago
Originally I wanted to host it on a dedicated machine (Lenovo M710q Tiny PC). It's the model with a i3-7100t and I know it's more than capable of running the server. Though safety is what came to mind immediately. DDoS protection, hackers, whatever else. I wanted to use playit.gg instead of port forwarding for some safety and also using a domain I bought on name.com. Source: 11 months ago
I use name.com for domains and purchase their web Email service for like $5 per month on domains that need an email. I think it is $5 per email address on a domain, but I can't recall. It's simple and affordable. Source: about 1 year ago
Name.com customer since 2011. Great prices and stable as a rock. Source: over 1 year ago
[abuse@name.com](mailto:abuse@name.com) is just the abuse contact for name.com, a place a lot of people use to host web sites. That in itself means nothing because a lot of legit sites use them (as well as scam sites). Source: over 1 year ago
To me name.com is the best registrar out there. Been with them since forever and never had anything to complain about. Look for coupons everytime you order or renew a domain. You always get something. Free WHOIS privacy is always guaranteed with a code. Source: over 1 year ago
Oh my... yes, squarespace is more expensive, will charge $20. Do you think it's better if I transfer it to Netlify's registrar partner (name.com)? Source: over 1 year ago
In more detail, we each have a personal domain name of the form "name.com" and e-mail address of the form ["name@name.com](mailto:"name@name.com)". Source: over 1 year ago
Hello, Porkbun CTO here and I noticed this post. First, not sure what michaelpaoli's beef is with us. Maybe he's had a bad experience, not sure but I know you can't please everyone and he might fall into that bucket of folks. We're certainly not a "crud" or "low quality" registrar, I kind of take that a bit personally since Porkbun is a labor of love for me. I've been in this industry since '99 and helped build /... So now I just use my personal gmail address, I dont have a website, and if I get an enquiry I just send them a google doc with a bullet list of work. SO long as you can convince them you're good at what you do, no one cares if you have a "professional" name.com email address, or a slick website. Source: over 1 year ago
As far as the mail goes, separate it from your hosting. Web hosting, mail hosting, and domain registration are three separate skillsets that some companies try to combine. The gold standard for email deliverability would be Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. Either way, you can continue to use your domains. Second tier includes companies like Fastmail, MXroute, and Titan. Titan has to be purchased from a... Source: over 1 year ago

I have a handful of domains currently at name.com. Looking to get new domain for this venture. I see some places like HostGator will offer a free domain when signing up, but not sure what happens if I do that, decide I don't want to stay at HostGator and cannot transfer the domain...(45 day refund, 60 day domain transfer lock, etc), so perhaps it will be better to just buy the domain at name.com? I know some... Source: over 1 year ago

We have a SquareSpace site that we are moving to WordPress. We own our domain through name.com. How do I go about connecting this domain which is currently connected to our SquareSpace site to our new Wordpress site? How long will this process take? Source: over 1 year ago
Every time I open a ticket with name.com support to notify them of the issue they just say 'we checked your dns and nothing is wrong'. Of course it's not wrong! I renewed the domain and changed it back. It looks like some sort of email spam operation. (I do not have any affiliation with mail.pickelhost.com. ) See my last ticket to them with the details here ->. Source: over 1 year ago
No one gives free domain as far as I know. But you can get cheap domains from name.com or namecheap.com with their newcomer promo codes. They're about 5 Euros for a year. Source: over 1 year ago
Interesting. I will try out your script. I am a little worried about only searching for stings that begin with HTTP as sometimes I will highlight name.com etc... Which does not begin with HTTP or www.name.com which doesn't either. I hope I didn't read your script wrong in assuming the aforementioned. Source: over 1 year ago
