You appear naiive in every sense of the word. Stop getting your info from your "trusted adult" or reddit for that matter. Get your credit report and scores from the only trusted sources: MyFico or Annual Credit Report. Read the government housing websites, or even go over to the forum community on MyFico, which I personally like. If you follow through, you won't need to ask questions like this. Source: 5 months ago
Yeah, we all have 40+ different credit scores. Your CK scores are "legit" in terms that they're accurate VS3 (VantageScore 3.0) it's just that VS3 is rarely used in lending decisions which makes them nearly irrelevant. Fico scores are used the the majority of lending decisions, with Fico 8 being the most commonly used model today. The Fico 9 you are getting is lesser used than Fico 8 since few lenders adopted... When a company does an inquiry without your requesting it, like for a "pre-qualified" offer for a credit card, that's a soft inquiry and it doesn't show as a hard inquiry on your credit report. You can also check your OWN credit like on myfico.com, and that's a soft inquiry. Background checks are also in this category. Source: 10 months ago

You should ignore those VS3 scores, as essentially no lenders are going to use them in lending decisions. Just because a score (probably a Fico Auto version) was within 5 points of your VS3 doesn't mean you can rely on that being the case at all times. The next time you checked there could be a 100 point variance between those scores. I would suggest just tracking the Fico score(s) you have access to, like the... Source: 10 months ago

You want to track your Fico 8 scores, since they're the most commonly used overall. You can get 2 out of 3 of them for free very easily... First, you can get EX F8 from Experian.com. For Equifax, you can get your EQ F8 from myfico.com. TransUnion is a bit more difficult, as I don't know a free for everyone source for TU F8. There are many banks however though that if you have an account with them will provide... Source: 11 months ago

Unless you're applying for credit, it's not necessary to know more than one or two of your Fico scores. You can get EQ8 for free from myfico.com as someone else stated and that's 2/3 of your F8s for free. If you really want all 3, you can do a $1 trial from Credit Check Total, which would be $29 cheaper than a monthly subscription from EX. Source: 11 months ago

Then I went to myfico.com to see if I could get my scores. Welp, couldn't even do that. I have NO scores so they refunded my money. When I called the myfico customer service I was told that since I have no accounts there can't be a score generated. I then went on the hunt to figure out what I could do since I can't get anything anywhere. I signed up for SELF credit builder, and I also signed up for both of the... Source: about 1 year ago
Credit attorney here. I really would sign up for Experian.com (free) or myfico.com (even better, paid) and see where your FICO scores are. If you do MyFico, you get your mortgage FICO scores, which lenders will use. Given what an important decision you're about to make, you definitely want to see where FICO score is. See where the score is there, and let us know. Source: about 1 year ago
