Do yourself a favor and make a MAL or anilist account so that it's easier to track and share what anime you've watched. Your list will only grow, so the best time to start is now. Source: almost 3 years ago

BTW, if you're planning to watch a bunch of anime, I highly recommend making an account on one of the anime tracking sites (MyAnimeList and AniList are the most popular, but there are others). They make it a lot easier to keep track of what you've already seen, what you're currently watching, and what you want to watch in the future. MAL will also notify you when a new related anime is added to its database... Source: about 3 years ago
No, it was a stylistic choice, for the purpose of representing how, if asked, I would spill it all in one sentence, not really caring. Oof, 5 commas, because I like long sentences; every sentence should use as many rules as possible, else why learn them? If want a list form go to myanimelist.net. Advice disregarded. For next time, I would just try to list out the stereotypes that you don't want to see. I think that's clearer about what you're trying to avoid. You could also mention which parts you didn't like in what you've already watched (be sure to spoiler tag, anything outside of the synopsis / premise), as well as parts that you liked in what you've already watched (which you did on your current post). Just generally,... Source: about 3 years ago
At least for me, I tend to like having databases of information to search around in so I'll recommend that you check out myanimelist.net. It has lots of shows/movies/manga/light novel series with user ratings, including a list of currently airing shows and shows that have been announced to air in the future. There are genre tags on everything so you can look up shows that you may want to check out from there. You... Source: about 3 years ago

On the other hand, sometimes I'd watch an anime episode and feel like discussing it, or at least reading other people's opinion, and myanimelist.net (which heavily inspired my own website) has anime-specific boards, so I'd check some topics. I ended up pretty much copying this idea, since not all games have their own subreddits, and social media is generally focused on whats new. Source: about 3 years ago

Myanimelist.net is a site where you can create a list of all the anime and manga you've seen so far, give them a score, and talk with other fans of the medium. It's a very handy tool to keep track of everything you've seen so far and want to see. The database is massive and with this you'll probably never run out of anime to watch. I'll edit my previous post to link to their respective myanimelist pages, that way... Source: about 3 years ago
I was introduced to myanimelist.net, and someone mentioned to me, that it can alert me when new seasons drop for anime, that I have watched. How do I set this up? I find the interface kind of hard to navigate through. Also, how would I share my anime list from the site with someone and are there any other sites like this worth mentioning? Public Opinion on MyAnimeList: An Analytical Overview
MyAnimeList (MAL) stands out as a premier platform in the anime and manga social networking domain, gaining recognition for its extensive database, user-friendly interface, and community-driven functionalities. It has carved a niche within the anime and manga audience globally, consistently acting as a central hub for both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers to the media.
Database and Accessibility
MyAnimeList boasts an unparalleled repository of anime and manga entriesโover 4.4 million anime and approximately 775,000 manga listings. This extensive catalog positions it as a vital reference point for users seeking comprehensive information about different titles. MAL's organizational approach, utilizing detailed categorization and list-like structuring, allows users to effortlessly navigate through an extensive array of content without the necessity of registration, a feature appreciated by many casual users.
User Engagement and Community Features
The platformโs social networking capabilities are frequently highlighted in discussions. MAL offers personal list-making features that enable users to track, rate, and discuss their viewing habits, which fosters community interaction. This capability is often praised in forums where users are advised to create accounts on MAL or AniList to manage their anime and manga consumption effectively. Many users appreciate the community interaction through forums and discussion boards, which help in discovering new shows based on recommendations and shared interests. This illustrates MAL's strength in functioning as a community engagement platform that connects like-minded individuals.
Ratings and Discoverability
User-generated ratings and reviews are another pivotal aspect of MAL. The ratings feature is perceived as more reliable compared to alternative sites, serving as a guide for many users deciding on what to watch next. However, there is a nuanced debate over the ratings system, with some users expressing concerns over inflated scores where numerous average titles receive high star ratings. Despite this, the consensus tends to favor MAL's ratings and review system over some of its competitors due to its depth and comprehensive user input.
Competitor Comparison
In comparison to rivals such as AniList, Kitsu, and Anime-Planet, MAL often leads in terms of database size and global user base, which adds to its credibility as a definitive source for anime and manga information. While competitors offer similar functionalities and have unique appeals, MAL's long-standing presence and extensive database provide it with a competitive edge.
Usability Concerns
Despite the site's popularity, some users cite challenges with its user interface. While relatively straightforward, some new users find specific functionalities, such as setting alerts for new seasons or sharing lists cumbersome. This feedback suggests areas for potential improvement in enhancing the user experience.
Conclusion
Overall, MyAnimeList continues to be an indispensable tool for anime and manga fans. Its robust database, coupled with a vibrant community, provides a substantial value proposition despite some minor usability criticisms. MyAnimeListโs enduring appeal illustrates its significant role in shaping the anime and manga landscape, constantly evolving to meet the dynamic interests of its global user base.
