Why typeorm over something like https://mikro-orm.io/? - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
In my usual NodeJS tech stack, which includes GraphQL, NestJS, SQL (predominantly PostgreSQL with MikroORM), I encountered these limitations. To overcome them, I've developed a new stack utilizing Rust, which still offers some ease of development:. - Source: dev.to / almost 3 years ago
Mikro-ORM is a TypeScript ORM that focuses on simplicity and efficiency. It supports various SQL databases and MongoDB. Mikro-ORM is known for its simplicity and developer-friendly APIs. It provides a concise syntax for defining data models and relationships, making it easy to use. - Source: dev.to / almost 3 years ago
I found MikroORM [0] to be quite reasonable if you're in the TS ecosystem already. It was also easy to do custom, raw queries, and really just felt like it wasn't in the way. [0] https://mikro-orm.io/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
It also does code generation into its own module, so good luck with hoisting in a monorepo where you want multiple independent prisma schemas. MikroORM[1] is a much better alternative to Prisma in my opinion but any ORM carries some form of baggage. [1] https://mikro-orm.io/. - Source: Hacker News / about 3 years ago

For instance, practicing "local first web" using automerge with all it's Distributed Persistence Primitives on CRDT's and Vector Clocks - i.e. When the Browser View is treated like a Database replica, essentially; or adopting a real data mapper that's giving you an API from your database Schema, using Prisma or Hasura... No such library exists. There are no ORMs in JavaScript that are nearly as mature as Doctrine. The closest thing that you're going to get is MikroORM. It's strongly based on Doctrine. I think it might be the only maintained ORM in JavaScript with the identity map pattern. Source: about 4 years ago
I am having a hard time running into configuration issues that I dont understand, for example I attempted to config https://mikro-orm.io/ with Typescript and failed miserably. Source: over 4 years ago

I ended up writing my own ORM (it's a wrapper over Knex). But if I had to pick something off-the-shelf, the next one I'd probably try is https://mikro-orm.io/. Source: over 4 years ago

NestJs is a Node.js framework for building efficient and scalable server-side applications and the best thing is that it fully supports Typescript. And we will be using Mikro-orm for data mapping and PostgreSQL, a relational database. - Source: dev.to / about 5 years ago
MikroORM seems like the spiritual successor to TypeORM, people seem to love it. https://mikro-orm.io/. Source: almost 5 years ago
Rewriting the metadata for a library is one thing. Writing an ORM is a whole different beast that no one on the Nest team feels confident enough to tackle. TypeORM was originally chosen because, at the time of creation, it had the best Typescript support. Keyword here being had. I've seen TypeO bite so many developers in the end and cause problems and usually suggest devs look for other options, like prisma or... Source: about 5 years ago
